permalink result from search?

Is there a chance to get permalink instead of article from the search
results?

Looking at some search results, I'm guessing this means "no"...? :-)

	nntp://news.gmane.org/gmane.discuss/9051

Alternatively, is it possible to get a permalink link on the classic
article view? Editing the URL is _so_ 90-ies!

While it's true that I hate the permalink view myself, I realise others
might like it.

I did actually have a quick look at this a while back, but permalink
doesn't seem to currently support highlighting words (the
"match=foo+bar" suffix), which makes it a lot less useful for search
results.

I pointed this out about a month ago - here's Lars reply:

| Yup. I just didn't see any place to put those links without

Group renaming is impossible in Gmane due to the backing storage being
used.

Another way to address this would be the idea I posted here:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.discuss/8662/focus=8665

Essentially users could specify a preferred view, stored in a cookie,
and then Gmane would then always redirect them to that view from the
other.

I think this addresses what I dislike most about the permalink
view - one of gmane's strengths is to present a uniform interface to
a large number of mailing lists (both on the web, and by allowing them
to be read in a newsreader just like usenet groups).

So it's especially annoying to have two very different web interfaces to
gmane (since external links might take you to either one). I don't want
to have to deal with two interfaces, and given the choice, my preference
is for the classic version.

Cheers,
    Olly

Amazingly enough I did the May 1st release before reading this.

Spooky. :-)

Approving thread head as spam kills the rest of the thread

Approving a thread head as spam seems to be killing the rest of the
thread, at least in the web interfaces. Here's an example
	http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.backup.fsvs.general

(I posted an introductory message, discovered that the group name in
the message I had posted was wrong, and posted a corrected version as
a followup to the original message. Then I discovered that at least
in the blog view, this meant the corrected message was hidden. So I
reported my first message as spam, and then approved it... and then
both went away)

I'm not against the cookie idea, although I do have some concerns.
Presenting very different pages to people based on cookies has a
tendency to confuse people. "Look at this. See how X does Y?" "Say
what? There's no X there."

Indeed. I just tried the same in gmane.test. I'll try to hunt down
the bug in weaverd.
