dowmload gmane

Hi,

On a private LAN, I would like to have a gmane-like.
I want an unidirectional gateway to (from?) a yahoogroup.

- How to have gmane on a private computer?
- Can I just ask to gmane to unidirectionally mirror the yahoogroup, then
mirror only the newsgroup with a NNTP software like leafnode or INN?

Changing settings

I just requested the address encryption setting for a group
(gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.swedish) to be changed.

Will this change be activated retroactively, for old postings, or
otherwise, how can I tell when the change has been enacted?

I'm not sure about the retroactivity, but you will know that is has
been changed when you get a reply to your request.

It depends how big that private network is and how many newsgroups you want
to carry. I am currently playing with mlgroups patch for leafnode
<http://zigzag.lvk.cs.msu.su/leafnode/> and it seems to work pretty well
with just a couple of newsgroups created from some email lists.

But... tell me... is gmane open source/specifications?
It would be interesting to have all the code they use to do it... Lika we
can get the source code of all the mirrorred MLs in here... :-)

Yes.  But it's not anything approaching a turn-key solution.  You're
likely to need to spend a while figuring out how to fit the bits
together!

I'm new to this list, and I didn't follow the entire thread about nazi
spam and spam handling, but it was (I know, I'm a little late) rather
simple to add a few rules to SpamAssassin to catch all the spam
generated by the new Sober variant (racist spam).

Let me know if you'd need help with that.
