The latter has been removed by the admin. It seems likely that that
should have happened with the former list, too, so I've removed it.

Primary MX changed

I've now made the new Opteron server the primary MX for gmane.org.
deer.gmane.org will continue on as the secondary MX, for the time
being.

True. Hm... this will require some rewriting of twine, since it now
assumes that all the links have the same format. But that's OK; I'll
just put it all down in the config.xml file, and give the parameters
in a more patterned fashion. It's more flexible, anyway.

Is that really necessary, though? The differences are purely
cosmetic -- if you've seen one version, I don't quite know why you'd
want to see the other version...

Yes, I'll add that.

exim setup -- sender verification?

All other MTAs I touch I have sender verification switched on, since
that gets rid of quite a lot of totally bogus mail.

In particular, what this does is that it denies mail from MTAs that
have names that don't resolve. I switched this on a few moments ago,
saw that mail from thoth.codespeak.net (which is the MTA for the
pyrepl mailing lists) was refused, and I switched it off again.

I had a look at gmane.comp.python.pyrepl.dev. It was 98% spam. I
guess if your MTA is so misconfigured as to not resolve, you probably
don't run very popular mailing lists, but...

Anybody have any opinions on this?

RSS and Permnalink changes effective! Great.

Just to compare, for curiosity... There are 2 intefaces, so it seems that
switching from one to the other could be nice. But it's not a must, I suppose.

However, the switching does not work in other interfaces as well. Lookin at a
thread at http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.discuss/6733 you change the interface in
the pulldown menu, and you dont go to
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.discuss/6733 but to blog.gmane.org/gmane.discuss

Some points:

- How's the design competition? It was mentioned at that thread 6733 above, but
since that...

- The experimental RSS's... when will they be no longer experimental?

- I made some suggestions last year about i18n. The Classic Interface begun
beind adapted very nicely. What about returning to that? I don't know if Lars'
to-do list is very long, but with the dir.gmane and blog.gmane interfaces so
nicely done, it would be great to see Gmane advance in that direction too.

Turn sender verification back on, and have someone ask about why
nothing happens on the list, and explain why, and ask if the list
manager is interested in doing anything about it, before/if you switch
it off again.

You may have arrived at an article in a form you don't like, and would
like an easy way to get to the other version, before you pass the URL
on to someone else, or put a link to it from your home page, or post
it to slashdot, or whatever.
