If it's simply a matter of the mailing list address changing, then
just send a message to admin <at> gmane.org.

bounces on gmane.emacs.bugs?

Hi,

in gmane.emacs.bugs there's a warning about `excessive bounces' from
`gnu-bug-gnu-emacs <at> m.gmane.org':

Weird. There's almost no way for Gmane to bounce something, so that
sounds like something, er, else.

I read that list the old-fashioned way (ie via mail), and I got the
same message about bounces today, so it seems the mailing list itself
may have gone a bit crazy.

Archive imports

Yeah, yeah, I'm packing, but I'm thinking about how to automate
archive imports.

I think it might make sense to do this via a web page using that
"upload" functionality that all the web browsers support.

So the web page would ask for:

1) The group name
2) The email address of the list admin/owner
3) The email address of the submitter
4) A click-box that says "Yes, I have asked the list admin about the
   import, and it's A-OK"

So you'd submit that, which would upload the archive, and an email
would be sent to the submitter. If that email is responded to (which
means that we have authenticated the submitter), an email is then
sent to the admin and the submitter saying that the archive is now
being imported.

And then the archive would be imported.

Of course, we'd have to trust the submitter that the admin has been
told of this, but we have to do that anyway. It'd just be a matter
of automating the process...

Anyway, I think something like that would be nice if lots of imports
are to be done. If not, it's less work to do it "manually". :-)

Is gmane.emacs.help down?

Ever since the message below came thru on gmane.emacs.help I've
seen no messages there (since yesterday). And messages are showing
up on the nntp group on my other servers.
I've never been a list member on the actual mailling list.

Gmane confirmation messages contain a 'References' header which
contains your Message-ID.

ezmlm -- no post setting?

Is there any way how to persuade ezmlm-based list not to send messages
to my mailbox or do I have to procmail them to /dev/null?

If you subscribe to the list by sending a message to:
listname-subscribe <at> server.org

then to subscribe, but not receive mails, send a message to:
listname-allow-subscribe <at> server.org

Though this only works with ezmlm-idx and not the standard version of
ezmlm, right?
