Auditions set for 'Romeo and Juliet'

RANTOUL — The Rantoul Theatre Group will have four open auditions this week for its September production of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."

The auditions will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdy and next Sunday at the Grissom Hall Theatre, 914 Arends Blvd. Rantoul.

Director Larry Smith seeks female actors age 14 and older and male actors ages 16 and older for the production.

No preparations are necessary. Readings will be from the script. Interested actors can see the audition selections on the Facebook page for Rantoul Theater Group.

The theater group also needs staff for light and sound.

The play will be performed Sept. 13-15 and 20-22.

Solos or Duets can audition.

If you would like to sing at the Save-The-Theatre Benefit in June 13, 14, 15, and 16 come to the audition tomorrow for OPEN MIC on the Rantoul Theatre Group Stage.

Bring 1 - 2 BROADWAY songs on your CD to sing. 

Where: Rantoul Theatre Group: Grissom Hall, 914 Arends Bl vd. Rantoul.

You will be singing to your own CD during the performance. Just like Karaoke!

Rantoul Theatre Group plans open auditions

 
Rantoul Theatre Group will hold four open auditions for its September production of William Shakespeare's love-tragedy play, "Romeo and Juliet."

The auditions are scheduled for May 23 and 24 from 7 – 9 p.m. and May 25 and 26 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grissom Hall Theatre, 914 Arends Blvd. Rantoul.

Director Larry Smith is seeking female actors from age 14+ and male actors from ages 16+ for the production.  Additionally, adult male/female actors will be needed for the appropriate adult roles in the play.   

The play will be performed September 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22, 2013.  No preparations are necessary.  Readings will be from the script.  Interested actors can see the audition selections on the Facebook page:  Rantoul Theater Group.

"Romeo and Juliet" is well-known around the world and to appear in this play is a plus for any actor's stage resume.  Romeo and Juliet are two star-struck lovers from feuding families who fall in love and meet their doom in the end.  "Romeo and Juliet" is one of Shakespeare's most popular plays and is loved the world over.

Additionally, technical support staff is needed for light and sound technicians.  

Rantoul Theatre Group has 190 seats and is located at 914 Arends Blvd., on the former Chanute Air Force Base in Grissom Hall. Celebration Company Woody Guthrie singalong for PBS--c'mon down!
 
Rick wanted to try to recreate the way "This Land is Your Land" started in his Woody Guthrie show--so I have put together a new and improved lyric sheet for the singalong and it is attached. Feel free to print and bring it.  I'll bring copies.
 
We'll be in the key o' G for those of you who want to bring an instrument.
 
Please try to arrive a little before 6 if possible. 
 
Can you tell I am thrilled to be doing this?  Kathy Harden and Dave and I  practiced it tonight--and even that was so much fun.

Auditions for Evil Dead: The Musical will be at the Station Theatre Monday, May 13 from 7-10 and in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room in Krannert, level 2, on Tuesday, May 14th from 7-10. 

Bring 1 minute from a rock musical.  Accompianment will be provided.

There will be cold readings and, on Tuesday, a dance audition.

Show performances are June 27th-July 13th and rehearsals will begin shortly after the show is cast.
