Coworking Camp

A group of startups is currently organizing a temporary cowrking space in the sun.

http://www.coworking-camp.com

The idea is to escape the cold European winter in November/December to a sunny destination with a group of itneresting people.

What do you think of this idea? Any feedback how we can make this even better?

Matthias

7 things that just have to be on a coworking website?

Hey Everyone,

We are renovating and extending our coworking space, thus we decided to redesign our website - making it clearer and simply get rid of unnecessary information. We basically do what other coworkings do, but with some great great impact on events.

I would like to ask for your opinion about what are 7 most important things that just have to be on a coworking space website.

To make it easier, I'm attaching template for you ;)

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

research project on coworking spaces in canada

I've had a language school student intern with me at Camaraderie for the past 2wks doing research on coworking spaces in Canada and developing a survey to send to the spaces we have listed. It's the first time we've done a comprehensive survey on just the Canadian spaces, and one that will be valuable to know how we can work together as a national collective.

When I announced it to the CoworkingCanada google group, I also got a number of offers of help from other spaces to lend their interns to the project and general support for such a project.

The survey is being deployed to Canadian spaces today.

I'm really excited about this survey and looking forward to reading and sharing the results. We'll be sure to share results here too!

NEW SPACE CATALYST / CREATIVE COWORKING / ARTIST SPACE - TAMPA, FL

Hello!

I've been lurking on these boards for two years or so, reading daily posts and researching as I've started to build the plan for our new community. You've all been a tremendous help and source of inspiration! I certainly feel more prepared through all of your insights and advice. THANK YOU.

I'm in the early stages of opening a creative coworking space in Tampa. I'm marketing towards artists, designers, architects, furniture makers, photographers, etc. as I try to create a small community. I'm not interested in a "typical" coworking space with daily/monthly members, as much as I hope to build a small group of 10-20 individual studio spaces that will be used on a slightly more long-term basis. We'll have drop-in space available, but it's not the main focus. I've also started exploring the idea of a shared photography studio and client meeting space that can be used on a daily basis by a rotating group of photographers.

The business plan is still flexible, the space layout is as well. We do already have a site - I own the building, and it was purchased with this goal in mind for the future.

That said, since I've done my homework, I know we need to build our community first. I'm signed up for an informational booth at the Etsy craft party next week to start talking with people and gauging interest. I'm wondering if there's any advice from the group on what information to provide, how to make our table more interactive...how to ask for feedback on what people are interested in seeing in the space? My main goal at this stage is to get contact info for people who are interested in more information and to get people to monitor our progress on social media so they can stay updated if they'd like. I plan to host a casual meetup of potential community members as soon as I think we have at least 10 people who may want to be involved.

Also, I know there's a lot of "I" and "ME" in the description above...right now I'm operating alone. Any advice on finding the kindred spirits needed to make this happen?

Looking forward to chatting more with you all as this moves forward. Please feel free to check us out, and spread the word if you'd like.

Summer months offer great opportunities for free coworking and coworking events

When more and more people go on holiday, it is a good opportunity to check for free coworking offers and events. With more desks unused there is a great opportunity to attract new coworkers with free coworking or free trials. Get to know other coworking spaces in your area or meet other coworkers  while you travel. Check the Free (Global) Coworking Map and the Coworking Calendar for offers and events.

If you are a coworking space, get access to the Coworking Calendar (just write me an email redaktion <at> coworking-news.de)  to enter your event and/or enter your space on the Free Coworking Map: Input via http://bit.ly/zzO5wH

Greetings,
Felix

Re: Abridged summary of coworking <at> googlegroups.com - 4 Messages in 1 Topic

Hello!

I've once heard about a cardboard structure used at the late Hub Brussels with that purpose.
You might see some pics looking at Google.

Cheers!

I like homasote, which is like drywall, but made of dense, recycled paper.
If you wrap it in fabric, it can then look a lot better, but even with just paint, it'll look pretty cool.

Anyone use sound/acoustic panels to lessen noise?

Hey all

We have a very echo-y space and we're exploring a few solutions. I wonder if anyone has experience using sound/acoustic panels to capture noise. Any specific products or strategies to recommend?

thanks!
