Re: structures of feeling

A recent cite on Williams's concept of structure of feeling....

Check Sean Matthews' "Change and Theory in Raymond Williams's Structure of
Feeling." Pretexts, Nov2001, Vol. 10 Issue 2. Matthews analyzes the
features of Williams's concept and traces the concept's development.

Going To School ~ Ir A La Escuela on KQED in SF, Sunday Sept.1, 6pm

Announcement from Richard Cohen Films. http//www.richardcohenfilms.com
Please post.

GOING TO SCHOOL ~ IR A LA ESCUELA will be broadcast on KQED in San
Francisco, Sunday, September 1st at 6pm.
& will be shown at the annual meeting of the American Sociological
Association in Chicago (schedule below)

GOING TO SCHOOL ~ IR A LA ESCUELA (cc)// Spanish language version
available
A Richard Cohen Film, Commissioned by the Class Member Review Committee
of the Chanda Smith Consent Decree.

A compelling, upbeat story of inclusion, special education and the
empowerment of children and their parents. The film shares the daily
experiences of students with significant disabilities in a middle and an
elementary school in Los Angeles. It reveals the determination of
parents to make sure their children receive a quality education. The
issues of respect, civil rights, and education for all children are
universal and poignantly conveyed.

"Highly recommended... invaluable for in-service training of teaching
professionals, as well as required viewing for student teachers. It
would also be an important community resource for public library
collections."

Florida, Tampa

Birthdays of J. Butler and E. Kosofsky Sedgwick

Dear Cultstud-L people,

Sorry about what may seem to be a pretty silly
question, but can anyone please send to me
the birthdate (the day and month, not just the year)
of either Judith Butler or Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick?

(I am doing new versions of the Theory.org.uk
Trading Cards (see http://www.theory.org.uk)
and have a list of 21 theorists. I've got 19 of their
birthdays to put on the cards -- everyone from
Gilles Deleuze to bell hooks -- but there are two
that I simply can't find -- those of Judith Butler
and Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick. And without their
birthdays I can't work out a complete set of
the theorists' star signs!)

Apologies to anyone who thinks this question
is too trivial for the list.

Thanks

David

What do we mean by 'isms', and why the heck would we want to
think/write/make art about them? Some of the biggies, like racism,
classism, and sexism, may be the most obvious topics for this theme, but
don't feel confined to writing on simply one 'ism,' or the first one that

former european colonies

Does anyone know legitimate sources where I can obtain lists of former
european colonies? I'm writing a report and I have a list of the former
British colonies, but I can't seem to obtain one for the former Dutch,
Spanish, Portuguese and French colonies. Any help would be useful. Thanks.
