Re: Sculptor hammer mystery solved!?

you'll maybe notice that the site I sent was not my own - it belongs to a Jennifer Tetlow, a very talented gal
who does beautiful little animal carvings our of sandstone and other materials. http://www.jennifertetlow.co.uk

Here's another place I found a similar hammer -
http://www.artistsupplysource.com/product.php?productid=46064

as for living in paradise - it's a choice, always! very expensive, but then again, I don't have heating
bills, winter clothes, snow gear, etc. to pay for. I do, however, have to ship my stone 3000 from the
mainland - always a trade-off, where ever you live!

aloha -

love that scam

this is a follow up to a brief message I posted a short while ago
about an email scam to 'purchase' a piece of my art.

I received the check today via fed ex. I called the company that
supposedly issued the check and they confirmed that is is fake. the
accounting person said that it was the second call she had today about
a fake check.

I'm now up to over $18,000 is fake checks and money orders. a few more
and I will do my piece. although a friend said that I should just fake
a few more myself, what;s the difference between real fakes and fake
fakes> :-)

I have send a message to the scammer that the check came and is no
good and am still interested is selling to them if they have a good
check. ha. maybe I should have had the shipper show up and have the
cops here.

I don't expect a response. the la times column from a couple of days ago
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-lazarus-20110830,0,2146387.column
had the same text in the email as the one that I got.

be aware, but if you have time, have them send you the check. it
wastes their time and a little of their money.

Hey Posey

http://news.gmane.org/gmane.culture.stone/

does not seem to have the searchable feature it used to have, but perhaps I am simply missing it and am mistaken.

Unrusting chisels: Assuming your chisels are only lightly rusted (not heavy/peeling rust) I'd recommend
a 6" diameter fine wire brush on a bench grinder. To keep the rust off (when not being used) I'd brush them
with a light coat of turp-oil (about 30% turpentine to 70% boiled linseed oil - exact proportions not
critical) and after completely coating them wipe the excess away with clean rags or paper towels.

Re: archives

Un-rusting chisels?  Wire wheel the rust off, then coat with Hoppe's gun oil, works great for me.

Re: archives

Don't some people use boiled linseed oil to coat chisels, or am I thinking
of olive oil..or something else I can't remember..?

Introducing Myself

 Hello,

My name is Neil Sweeney. I've just finished my A2 Course at Sixth Form but opposed to going to university
straight away i decided to take a gap year on account of the fact i didnt feel ready and was unsure as to what i
wanted to do. Since then though i have come to consider Stone Work as my choice of course, specifically at
City and Guilds come 2012/13. Up until then though i'm looking to build a portfolio based upon stone,
currently i'm at Portland Quarry Trust and i'm partaking in a 5 day course as so i can learn the basics.
Tomorrow is when the work begins and so i'll keep on posting news with regards as to what i've learnt.

Regards Neil.
