The results of our Rancid polls

Greetings once again in the name of Spambo von Rancid and her
illegitimate legion of bogus lwa and zombified Cult members!

Now you do not just have to believe what we tell you about rancid
Racine. We bring you the results of our polls! We invited those in
the Vodou community (who know Racine best of all) to vote for her at
a number of online Vodou groups. People could vote here for one
month – and, my, how they did!

The forums we selected were chosen purely on the basis of the number
of subscribed members, so these are the largest at Yahoo! Groups.
They were:

v	Vodou_UK
v	Voodoo-L
v	VoodooEnergy
v	Vodou_Arts
v	And our very own `tribute' forum, RacineAndNotHeard (OK, not
one of the largest or the most objective, but we couldn't very well
leave it out, now could we! Also, it is subscribed to by some of the
people who best know Racine – by virtue of the fact that they've been
personally abused or ripped off by her for years. So it's only fair
really! Anyway, it hardly affects the results as you'll see)

In the polls, readers were invited to say yes to a series of
statements about Racine if they agreed with them, or to leave them
blank if they didn't.

In every case, the percentage given is the percentage of the sample
voting YES under that category.

Posting to Mambo Racine's Moderated Forums

After most recent events in Haiti it is all too apparent that Mambo
Racine's myopic view of the crisis there was far from reality. While
her observations may have been true for Jacmel, she completely missed
the turmoil that griped the rest of the country. She was still
describing the calmness during her most recent documented shopping
trip while over half of the country was in rebel hands. Luckily, her
recent international initiate had decided to stay an extra week
because he was having such a great time – though had he tried to make
it to Port-au-Prince, he probably would not have gotten a flight out
of the country.

Most of my posts to various Vodou related forums have been news
stories describing the crisis. However, these stories were posted,
but not actually displayed on Vodou_Arts or VoodooEnergy, forums
moderated by Mambo Racine. She has stated at length that posts that
are vulgar and/or offensive will not be allowed as shown in her
following post:

I'm sorry a few of you are upset that you can't turn Vodou Arts, the
world's largest online Vodou discussion group, into a cesspool of
hatred and vulgarity.

Too bad.

Anyone can join. Anyone can post. Posts are moderated. Vulgar,
offensive posts don't make it onto the board.

Re: Posting to Mambo Racine's Moderated Forums

Greetings: I have just returned from a short trip and have accessed
the Yahoo groups. There seems to have been no message being approved
by M. Racine in Vodou Arts since 27 Feb. I know it's just 4 days ago
but I am concerned about Racine and her peristyle. Rumours were the
worst possible in Santo Domingo (DR) about the situation in Haiti and
if M. Racine is still in Jacmel, I think she should manage to leave
the country, even if to the Dominican Republic. After all, no matter
what, nobody wants any harm to happen to M. Racine, right? ... RIGHT?

Love,
Sofia

*** Racine has been ranting that the lwa punish those who do not
honour Gine. Maybe she was right all along and they have. That would
explain her silence.

Mambo Racine in Haiti

Dear List members,
I spoke with Mambo Racine in Haiti yesterday. She is fine, as is the
sosyete and Madame Jules. All of Jacmel is without electricity at the
moment, hence no internet service or postings.
Honor and Respect,
P.

Here I am in Jacmel, Haiti...

Here I am in Jacmel, Vodouisants. I send you all greetings in the
name of God, the ancstors and the lwa!

I went to Port-au-Prince yesterday (Tuesday), to bring my newest
international initiate to town. It was quite a calm trip to Port-au-
Prince and back to Jacmel. Port-au-Prince looks like it is in dire
need of an army of street-sweeping machines, garbage is just piled up
in waves and waves at intersections.

Here in Jacmel, though, life goes on much as usual. The town is
still clean and reasonably active, although the banks and Western
Union are as yet not in function. There has been little or no
destruction here to my knowledge - some pot-shots taken at one local
business, but no injuries, no loss of life, again to my knowledge.
The Commissariat was not burned, though I think Teleco was a bit
deplumed, you know? In fact, the day after Aristide departed, the
right-wing folks here were saying that they had sent Aristide away
but they didn't send the police away, and would all the police please
come out, come out, wherever you are! LOL And please come back to
work!

The surrounding countryside is quiet, people are a bit fearful but
there is no terror like in 1993. For a while a group of young men
with a shotgun were joyriding up and down, but they have stopped,
probably because like everyone else they have run out of gas. They
didn't shoot anyone anyhow.

Gasoline, that's our problem here now. We need more fuel to run
Jacmel's electric generator. (That's why you haven't heard from me in
a while, no electricity means no internet. Plus I just finished my

Haitian Charities

For those of you interested in helping Haiti in this hour of need,
here are some reputable charities which would welcome your
contributions. These groups will provide you with the appropriate
forms for a tax deduction, and with documentation about where your
money is going.

http://www.medalia.net/Help.html lists a number of excellent
charitable organizations. You may also be interested in:

made a donation there).

*** Might i suggest you send money to a reputable charity instead of
sending it to Racine (see Kevin's posting on this). For one thing, it
is not just Vodouisants who are suffering in Haiti - and certainly
not just Racine's small congregation in Jacmel (an area which she has
been claiming for weeks is untouched by the troubles anyway) - it is
ALL people. For another thing, after Racine's well-documented
willingness to distribute money on the basis of 'personal favours'
rather than genuine need (e.g. three years wages to her boyfriend for
a single day's work), i think it would be a much safer charitable
investment for you to send your hard-earned money to a reputable
organisation who will distribute it fairly to the people who actually
need it instead of using it to buy the affections of those who don't.
