Vodou Initiation in July 2003

The Roots Without End Society is happy and honored to once again
offer the kanzo ceremony, the ceremony of initiation into Vodou.

Initiation in Vodou is open to everyone, regardless of race, sex,
nationality, sexual orientation, previous religious affiliation - we
will be happy to welcome you into the mystery and power of the Vodou
tradition.

Initiation empowers your life! You will learn prayers and
invocations that permit you to summon the lwa, the "gods" of Vodou.
You will make powerful magical objects that enable you to direct
spiritual energy and achieve your personal goals. You will be
cleansed, purified, charged with energy, renewed, protected,
renamed! And in addition to the spiritual benefits, we believe that
initiates enjoy better health, longer life, improved finances, and
stable domestic relationships.

In the Roots Without End Society, initiation ceremonies are
carefully, scrupulously correct and authentic. We do not overcharge
people and give them fake ceremonies, instead we give you correct
and authentic ceremonies at a reasonable price. We are assisted by
Haitian Houngans and Mambos to insure that everything is done just
as it should be. The results are undeniable!

Your ceremonies will be held in Jacmel, Haiti's cultural capital, a
rural town surrounded by pastures and ten minutes drive from
beautiful beaches. You will have time for swimming and for shopping
in Jacmel's art galleries.

During your ceremonies you will stay at the Rendez-Vous Guest House,

Lave Tet Ceremony In New Orleans This June!

The Roots Without End Society, led by Mambo Racine Sans Bout, is
honored once again to offer the Lave Tet ceremony in New Orleans.
The ceremony will be held at the Starling Books & Crafts lovely
outdoor courtyard. The dates for this ceremony are June 20 - 21.

A lave tet ceremony is a cleansing, invigorating purification and
consecration of the head using traditional herbs and other
substances. It is not a trivial service, but a deeply sacred one.

This ceremony of cleansing and renewal removes spiritual impurities
and negative magic, invigorates spiritual life, promotes and
clarifies psychic abilities, improves relationships with the Vodou
lwa, and can even improve financial and domestic issues.

Here is the schedule of activities:

Introduction, Service to the lwa - Friday evening, June 20th.
(Participants will receive readings during the day.)

As we do prior to every lave tet, we will offer service to the lwa.
Accompanied by drumming and song, we will invoke three important
lwa - Ayida Wedo, the Rainbow Serpent; La Sirene, Queen of the Seas
and Mother of All; and Simbi Makaya, the Master Magician of the
Petro rite.

At this time, those who wish to receive the "garde" ceremony can do
so. A garde is a magical protective charm, conferred in this case by
the lwa Simbi Makaya. (If you will be receiving the lave tet, the
cost of garde ceremony is reduced.)

The Doubling of Energy - Marasa!

I have some information to share with you, folks! We've made service
for Legba, and next on the list is Marasa. Then Loko and Ayizan, in
time for our group Ayizan service in New Orleans on June 20.

The Marasa are twin children. They are served in the Rada rite in
Vodou, right after Legba. They do not have names that we know of.
They are represented in Vodou by the image of St. Cosme and St.
Damien.

All twins are Marasa, identical or fraternal. A male child born
after twins is called a "dosu", a female child born after twins is
called a "dosa".

Twins are considered to be essentially one person, who has
miraculously doubled themself somehow. It is basic to understanding
the power of the Marasa that each twin person is a full, normal sized
person, a twin is not two half-sized people.

We invoke the Marasa to bless us, and also to empower magic. Twin
children are considered to have magical ability even without
initiation, and thus a lot of people consider themselves twins in
Haiti who would not here - for example, if a person has a sixth
finger on one or both hands they claim that they are part of a twin,
and the other part of the twin, the other child, is inside them and
only a finger or two have "come out".

A person who has a twin who did not survive, either at birth or
later, is still Marasa.

Marasa are fed children's foods, and they play children's games and

Wiccans/Old Craft/Pagans in Vodou

Strong links have developed between the practitioners of Wicca, Old
Craft, and related traditions, and the Roots Without End Society.
I'd like to point you, dear reader, at two web sites that explore the
connections between Wicca, Old Craft, and the Vodou religion.

Our house, the Roots Without End Society, is an Vodou society with an
international membership. Some of our members participate in other
traditions, including Wicca and Old Craft, and their covens hold both
Wiccan and Vodou ceremonies.

The Coven of the Golden Dolphin, which is part of the Black Forest
Clan, is located in Houston, Texas and led by Houngan Tim and Mambo
Carole Anne. There main page is found at:

Coven of the Golden Dolphin - http://www.goldendolphinseminary.org/

They offer photographs documenting two Vodou ceremonies which they
have performed:

Ritual to La Sirene -

Ritual to Ogoun - http://www.goldendolphinseminary.org/PhotoOgou.htm

The Lodge of the Walker is headed by Mambo Pat and Houngan Don. They
recognise "the Walker" of their lodge as an aspect of Legba, and it
is as a priestess of Legba that Mambo Pat was initiated into the
Roots Without End Society. Their page is found at:

Racine Attacks

Greetings Everyone: It is with great displeasure that I must inform you of an un-provoked attack on me by the
infamous mambo racine sa te la da... yada yada, you all know the rest of her name. Out of nowhere this woman
decides she notices a familiarity in an "opening line" (this is what she calls it), in a group greeting that
I posted months ago. Now, I'm no trouble maker. I love to read the remarks, questions and replies, but if you
notice I hardly ever get involved. If I disagree, agree, or find the name calling humorous I keep it to
myself. This does not mean if I am compelled to ad my opinion that I wont. Anyhow, mambo racine can't be
civil, so I did not let her in my group http://groups.aol.com/_cqr/realvaudou?mmch_=0, for that she
threw an online fit, and started warning other people about people like herself. This is what she had to

Strange Anti-Mambo Spam - a word about 'dantorschild", "nanfoguinin", etc.

There has recently been an upsurge in strange emails directed against
me, my house, and members of the Vodou Arts list. Stuff like this
- well, it's not really something I spend a lot of time worrying
about, it's been going on for years, always from the same group of
unhappy people, and I usually don't even talk about it on this list,
but since a several Vodou Arts members tell me that they have been
getting weird emails, I will just note the following:

An individual or group of individuals, posting variously
as "dantorschild", "nanfoguinin", "sousdalles" and a few other names
have been sending me, some Vodou Arts listmembers, and Roots Without
End Society members some very bizarre emails full of profanities,
vulgarities, and strange accusations. I just a few minutes ago had
to 'disapprove' a post from "nanfoguinin" to Vodou Arts for the
reasons cited above.

One of these individuals has a forum supposedly about Vodou, which
actually serves as an anti-Mambo Racine huffing and puffing forum. I
lurk there although I do not post ("nanfoguinin" lurks on Vodou Arts
too, why not? It's a free country...) The sort of stuff they post is
usuall either ridiculous or obscene - one fellow, Houngan Russell,
for instance, wrote something to the effect that he had met me in
Haiti and that I had "threatened him".

This fellow is an initiate of mine and Houngan Danise David's. He
came from Canada to Haiti to be initiated, which seemed to me proof
of his sincerity, although I didn't know him personally. Prior to
his initiation, he kept asking me over and over if I thought he might
become the victim of anti-white violence while in Haiti, and I kept
telling him no, I didn't think so. On his return to Canada he

I will make a suggestion, if you will permit - have a look at the
service for Legba found at:

http://www.rootswithoutend.com/legbaserv01.html

Do that service and tell Legba what you want! I hope you will tell
us how it goes - GOOD LUCK!

Re: Strange Anti-Mambo Spam - a word about 'dantorschild", "nanfoguinin", etc.

Racine:

You are plagarizing the word racine, or roots, by pretending you have
some in Haiti and in Vodou. Like I said before, anyone who has
undergone the Lelye process is ordained, not to mention initiated.
And,like I said before, I'm not here to compete with you or anyone
esle. But it seems you have a history of doing this (harrassing) to
Houngans and Mambos online. It's a shame you have no confidence in
yourself or your work, otherwise you wouldn't find other Vodou clergy
people threatening.

As for e-mailing you from various e-mail addresses, your fibbing
mambo. You've done this before. I e-mailed you from my daughter's e-
mail address (the e-mail address the AOL group was formed under) only
today in reply to this little message:
