More realcore

Hi,
I'm working on which subjects (in the vast sea of
Realcore) I'll focus on in my presentation in
Amsterdam. The concept of realcore is simple:
consentig adults swapping their own (digital)
images in (digital) public, for free. If you want
to find this kind of material, I suggest you look
in two areas:

1) Usenet newsgroups: it's a weird world but
worth exploring. Very often this is where stuff
originates from, and sometimes it includes
comments from the authors. Within the hyerarchy
alt. binaries.pictures.erotica (infested with
spam) I suggest you look into the .interracial,
.transvestites and .wives groups, just to get an
impression (many people reposts older pics and
collections). Also alt.personal.bondage is
sometimes quite amazing (watch out: explicit
images). I should also say, as not many people
ever visit certain newsgroups, that the chance to
view objectionable material (from violence to
child porn) is very high. One way to avoid it is
to subscribe to one of the many web usenet
services (such as www.pictureview.com) that
remove child porn before displaying the images.

*) Public groups, such as Yahoo!, MSN and just
about anywhere else they'll let people publish
this stuff. For a while Yahoo has been the best

introduction

dear Netporners.

finally i come with my introduction....

David Boardman is a designer and artist coming from Aosta, Italy. where
he borned in 1978.
he studied communications sciences in turin, where he worked as
freelance programmer and designer.
he is a co-founder of netzfunk.org collective
(http://www.netzfunk.org), an open network of dispersed artists
sharing in common a subversive idea of art, and the hate for the
multifarious mafias of art, culture, economy, armies and politics.
The current expressive research lines are digital literature, robotics,
meaning technologies, installation art and locative media.

Between march and july 2005 was invited in Santiago de Chile by visual
arts department of Universidad de Chile to organize a Ph.D
course "Una estetica para una tecnologia suave" - "Aesthetics for a
delicate technology" (http://www.netzfunk.org/u/).

During the chilean permanence organized the locative media performance
"Memoria Històrica de la Alameda" (http://www.memorialameda.cl),
a collective artwork on Santiago's main boulevard Avenida Bernardo
O'Higgins, commonly known as "Alameda", which was taken into
consideration
for his iconic nature of the chilean social and politic history of the
decades between the Allende's "unidad popular" and Pinochet's
dictatorship.
People going in the street with Cultural Luggage platform could
experiment a multi-dimensional space living the "hic et nunc" reality

do you already use tor? [u]

Individuals need Tor for privacy:

Privacy in web browsing -- both from the remote website (so it can't
track and sell your behavior), and similarly from your local ISP.
Safety in web browsing: if your local government doesn't approve of its
citizens visiting certain websites, they may monitor the sites and put
readers on a list of suspicious persons.
Circumvention of local censorship: connect to resources (news sites,
instant messaging, etc.) that are restricted from your
ISP/school/company/government.
Socially sensitive communication: chat rooms and web forums for rape
and abuse survivors, or people with illnesses.
Journalists and NGOs need Tor for safety:

Allowing dissidents and whistleblowers to communicate more safely.
Censorship-resistant publication, such as making available your
home-made movie anonymously via a Tor hidden service; and reading, e.g.
of news sites not permitted in some countries.
Allowing your workers to check back with your home website while
they're in a foreign country, without notifying everybody nearby that
they're working with your organization.
Companies need Tor for business security:

Competitive analysis: browse the competition's website safely.
Protecting collaborations of sensitive business units or partners.
Protecting procurement suppliers or patterns.
Putting the "P" back in "VPN": traditional VPNs reveal the exact amount
and frequency of communication. Which locations have employees working

Stocchetti_introduction

Greetings
and apology for the delay.
My name is Matteo Stocchetti and I am research fellow at the Institute of Arcada University of
Applied Science in Helsinki, Finland. My interest in the conference is more on the "politics" than
the "art" side. More specifically, I am interested in the politics of netporn as an arena in which
sexuality is "problematised" (in the Foucault sense, cf. History of Sexuality)in societies. The
focus is on issues of power in general and symbolic power in particular (this is Bourdieu,
cf.Symbolic power). Since one of the major problem in this, as in other, domains of social studies
is the lack of reliable empirical research, me and my colleagues at the Institute try to address our
topics of interest with a critical eye to methodological aspects (e.g. the operational definitions
of the key concepts in our study).

My presentation at the conference will be on the effects of metaphors in affecting the social
experiencing of netporn and "mediated" sexuality more broadly. An important assumption in this
perspective is that netporn is very much what people make of it. Metaphors, however, are powerful
tools to influence the collective notion of what is appropriate or inappropriate behaviour often
beyond awareness and rationality. The representation of netporn fruition as "deviant", "addictive",
"dangerous" or "emancipatory" behaviour depends very much on these and other communicative devices
used in the narrativization of the collective experience of netporn.

This work is part of a larger project on metacultural intelligibility in broadcasting. At the
conference I would expecially like to discuss the possibility for a comparative research on netporn
fruition in non-Western cultures. Anybody interested?

Best regards
Mat

Zeljko_introduction

Dear list members of friends, strangers, colleagues, of lurkers &
exhibitionists, of bored academics, opportune artists and promiscuous
media people. I will try to introduce myself in a reference to the
vague*, but potentialy interesting framework of this platform.
(for general info visit my homepage http://www.mi2.hr/~zblace/)

I am working in the field of media and contemporary culture as an artist
and cultural producer. Digital design work tends to pay may bills and
occasionally make me feel pragmatic. My research is mostly focused on
cross-pollination of different fields of creative activities with
technology and media systems.

As of past few years I have taken more interest in the queer culture and
media creativity related to field of pornography. My first intervention
in this regards was a subtle subversion in the relatively boring and
politically over correct film&video program of Next5Minutes 4 – tactical
media festival (for which I was one of int. editors) where I pushed in
“Salivation Army”. This remarkable and controversial short film by a
Canadian queer filmmaker Scott Treleaven stired intensivly a diverse
reaction and interpretations to this multilevel, semi-pornographic,
ironic(?) critique of activism and much more. In the process it made me
think about the asexual activism and impotent art that is continuously
and at large promoted as dominant and daring path of thinking.
Number of artistic works that use sex as décor and touching the
pornography with skin-deep ideas about it's structure is enormous – so I
wanted to escape this arty gibberish and self absorbing
"we-know-it-as-we-have-had-sex-and-had-seen-porn” attitude.

My interest in pornography has moved me to become involved in one of the
leading production companies in Europe when it comes to bleeding edge

Latex Heart intro

Dear netponys, let me introduce myself

Antonia Hernández, was born & lives in Santiago, Chile

net artist/graphic designer/amateur writer/sex obsessed

Since 2000 I've been working on Corazón de Látex (Latex Heart), a project about porn as a literary genre in which the mental construction around sex is more important than sex itself, and that also explores the paradox of the desire we feel towards a bitmap. The work I am currently doing, and that I will present at the conference, is about how in an abrasively globalized and homogenous landscape, porn, more niche-oriented than ever, can be a last refuge for identity.

Or at least as the sexiest one.

why we dislike the netporn conference

(english below)
querida antonia,

girlswholikeporno
...........................................

dearest netporners,
i read an article about prostitution the other day. it explained the story of a
prostitute (part of a collective of prostitution in barcelona) who was not
allowed at first to a congress about prostitution

a congress about prostitution and they doubt about letting in a prostitute?

the netporn conference is a little bit like this for me
i wanted to go at first as we have a porn-sex-queer web site for years (last
months it has turned into a blog) but when we contacted the organisation (after
several mails with no answer) the answer was that the presentation of works was
already made and that was all
a netporn conference and there is not a space to show individuals people work
that are willing to come?
