Old Insular Affairs verbiage unearthed!

While browsing my hard drive today, I found that on April 20, 1998, I saved
quite a lot of text from the Insular Affairs web site as it then existed! The
site was structured differently back then, but I can give you the language that
formerly appeared where the monkeying bureaucrat subsequently inserted the word
"None." This is also where the dysfunctional "U.S." link should point (and
undoubtedly once did).

Here it is:
_______

OTHER ISLANDS STILL UNDER DISPUTED
UNITED STATES' SOVEREIGNTY

The United States' claim to Serranilla Bank:

About two hundred ten miles north north-east of Nicaragua lies the Serranilla
Bank. Some consider that the United States acquired the bank under the Guano
Islands Act of August 18, 1856 (Title 48, U.S. Code, sections 1411-19). Several
very small cays emerge above the water to form the bank's islands.
Colombia has not directly claimed Serranilla Bank but is on record as
considering the bank a part of the Providence Archipelago in the intendancy of

You are correct. Not a word from the folks at Insular Affairs.

Balkan Trip

I plan to travel from Ljubljana, Zagreb, and the
Dalmatian coast to Montenegro next month.

I would like to discover, and visit/cross, new borders,
enclaves and/or other geopolitical anomalies (such as
the Neum corridor).

Any tips would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Re: multibanger prospects soar further Re: Old Insular Affairs verbiage unearthed!

ok thanx

how would the following be with you

dear president bush

may i invite your primary attention to the attached
letter from my friend & your fellow adoptive texan
lowell mcmanus to the office of insular affairs
regarding the currently indistinct status of the
united states territorial possessions at serranilla &
bajo nuevo along with their associated potentially
exclusive economic zones
since these are evidently all
by guano law
under executive prerogative & responsibility

& because the oia appears confused & indisposed to
answer directly & clearly on your behalf for these
valuable possessions since perhaps 2003
may i also inquire directly from you
what is your present disposition regarding these
united states territories

thank you for your consideration & for all you do

with sincere respect & affection
etc

That's fine by me--except that I'm not yet an adoptive Texan. I've always
resided in Louisiana. I plan to reside in Texas in the indeterminate future.
