Re: Re: FINORU

I think you're right. I mean, no one wants trouble with russian border guards. Logically then, the picture is taken from the safe side, that is the Norwegian side along the finnish-norwegian border.

Here's FINORU tripoint picture (posted by Jesper Nielsen) and tripoint map from Norway-Russian border comission page. What do you think, were exactly goes border line? I suppose, that NORU border goes straight break-through on left side picture (NO left, RU right) and FIRU border goes from tp directly right near to three signs and next downwards, however FINO border from tp towards spectator. Three yellow-belt marked trees are in FI. Picture was taken from NO. What do you think about it?

Jesper,

The photo is NOT at the crossing on the Iraqi boundary with Jordan.  I've seen that crossing on TV, and it does not look like this.

Can't see any markers either, if they would even be
there

DPLCZ

I tried to mark a border line on map & picture from D-PL-CZ tripoint. Blue point on map is a place,
where picture was taken from. Tripoint is on the middle of Neisse/Nysa Luzycka/Luzicka Nisa river.
I suppose, it can be reached from all these countries.
Greetings,
Artur

Re: Re: FINORU

wow I've looked at the tp monument from 11 different
views. before the post of the map I was actually not
correct in my visualization of the point. but now I
see the map and it is much clearer. I will have to
review when I am thinking less of the triline
BO-BR-JU.

greater groundhog birthday & trypointing multi blowout

did indeed leave big pine saturday nite as projected

& barreling west on the tamiami trail at 80mph around 3am
was wondering in the total solitude what this my 61st birthday might have in store for me
& how my new 27dollar retread might be doing
& also asking the truck to forgive my current 7000 mile lube lapse
when the wheel lurched out of control & such a racket suddenly arose that i figured old red must have indeed dropped or blown her engine

such perhaps being the power of even stray thought

but meanwhile here we are veering wildly & trying to figure out how to avoid the flimsy guard rails separating both shoulders from their respective gator sloughs below

what a rush

so anyway we get it under control & take a look & a listen

& everythings fine
& theres not even a blowout
& only the slightest body damage

but most of the new tire is indeed missing

so i relax & drink a toast to my inner being for so dramatically renewing my lease on life
& drift off to feed only a few bold mosquitoes

at daybreak i learn all 8 lugnuts had been overtightened beyond my ability to crack

but yikes the tire still holds all 60 pounds of pressure

so i have no choice but to continue at quarter throttle on to crystal river
where i had coincidentally bought the tire
& hope it will make these last couple hundred miles on the steel radials alone

a second lurch & din half an hour later convinced me the tire was finished
but it proved to be just another blowoff

& on the third such occurrence i was again convinced
& even ready to declare it a multihood
but was again surprised to find only a balder & smoother but no flatter a tire

wow this was getting fun

& i could go faster again now too

the next 3 blowoffs surprised me less & less & didnt fool me at all

by number 6 evening was beginning to fall
& i was already approaching within 3 leagues of bp ground zero itself
aka laorospo or downtown toon town as you may remember
but i turned west on a crazy shortcut thru green swamp
where the tire finally did blow & most dramatically of all

the first respondent to my white hanky of so to say distress was a fair & quite buxom blonde damsel in work boots

i kid you not

this really happened to me yesterday

where i must leave you in suspense until my next shot at this computer

they are very liberal here in crystal river

you can at least reach a good stopping point for your episode

& there will eventually be a couple of real tripoint visits in this story

i promise

later

multi blowout part 2

anyway the blonde turns out to be a first rate mechanic

& she does finally manage with brute force & lots of jumping up & down to loosen 7 of the 8 lugnuts

& tho we try everything & take several breaks for laughing
it eventually becomes clear that the nut is hopelessly stripped
& she declares she has to run & i need a welder

i wave a 10dollar bill at passing cars
& as the sun kisses the horizon
i realize that what i am really doing
is declaring the day a 10 on a 10scale
& quite demonstratively so

but then an even more marvelous thing happens

i look again at the sun
& it has split in half
vertically
so only the left hemisphere of it is visible as it sets

half sunsets are of course routine
but ive never seen one split perpendicular to the horizon like this

what a portent

like maybe my 10 dollars really only covered half the tab for this incredible day

& the cosmos is raising the ante on me

so i put the 10 away & start waving a 20dollar bill instead as the sun goes down
declaring the day now rather a 20 on a 10scale

& thinking the 6 blowoffs plus 1 real blowout do indeed make a perfect recapitulation of my 61 years

so why shouldnt i double down too

& good on me for playing such a smashing game of paddleball with the universe

especially if thought really does affect the reality that emerges

at this
not a welder
but a blacksmith arrives

with no torch but lots of tools & might

& tho we too try everything & take several breaks for laughing also
he is not so amused
& breaks 2 of his tools & wrenches his back
& mashes the steel til it looks like zinc
but the nut still wont disintegrate
hahaha
& he goes off muttering to leave me for the night & the hope of a welder in the morning

groundhog day today dawns & not a welder but a minister arrives

i know it sounds like a setup

first the bombshell then the blacksmith & now the minister

& we too try everything & laugh continuously

& i promise there will be some real points soon

but this will have to be another good place to take another break
