Hello All,

that address, but the person was not a member of our list. Normally, these messages are filtered.

[ebbc-talk] Bike to Work Day at Macarthur BART -- Volunteers Needed

Hey Bikies....

May 18 is BTWD. LOTS of folks bicycle through the Macarthur BART station
every day. BTWD is our opportunity to acknowledge those bicycle commuters.

Two EBBC members have already volunteered to run the energizer station at
Macarthur BART, but it would be great to get a couple of more folks to help
them connect with bike commuters. I've done it for several years and I can
tell you that it's fun and rewarding to hand out musette bags to those bike
commuters as they pass through the station.

CAN YOU HELP??

The station is set up from around 6:30 AM until about 8:30. Can you help,
even if only for a half hour? If you can help, please respond to me at this
email address or call me at 510-482-5968.

Thanks,

Rick Rickard

[ebbc-talk] Fruitvale Transit Village lessons learned from TALC

EBBC:

The Transportation and Land Use Coalition is holding a special
regional meeting on the topic of lessons learned from the Fruitvale
Transit Village. It's coming up May 17, the day before you-know-what
day.

Anyway, one lesson learned is how not to design a Bikestation. The
Fruitvale Bikestation needs much better visibility and signage, among
other things, and there needs to be improved bike access of Fruitvale
and International, both of which Oakland and Caltrans have
"struggled" to improve for bikes.

Please come to the meeting if you can and provide your input on
improving one of the East Bay finer neighborhoods for bikes.

See message below---

Thanks,

[ebbc-talk] Fwd: Alameda Thursday Night Farmers' Market Opens

Dear Cyclists and Bus Riders,

Those of you who commute to work on bikes or public transit will now
have another shopping option:
The Alameda Farmer's Market opens up on Thursday evenings next week.
(See announcement below.)

The market will operate from May 11th through September 28th, each
Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm, in the parking lot at the corner of
Taylor and Webster St. Cyclists will want to bring their
lights and night-time reflective clothing if they plan to stay until
the market closes, at least for a couple of weeks. Bring your bike
lock and use the bike racks right next to Webster.

The Farmer's markets are both well served by transit: the O and W
Transbay buses run close by, as do the 51 and 63 local runs. Stop by
on your way back from San Francisco(with or without your bike) for
some food and refreshments every Thursday night this summer...

Subject: Ashby BART Task Force members and meetings

Dear Task Force Member -
Thank you for being patient while we concluded the process of confirming membership in the Task Force to
help frame and guide potential development at the Ashby BART west parking lot. The full membership in the
Task Force is as follows, listed alphabetically:

Dmitri Belser, Dan Cloak, Andy DeGiovanni, Jiane Du, Frankie Lee Fraser, Mike Friedrich, Marcy Greenhut,
Toya Groves, Mansour Id-Deen, Jeffrey Jensen, Maryann Sargent, John Selawsky

You are the first to know the names of the Task Force members. We will also notify and thank those who were
nominated, but not selected. We will then share the information with the City Council, neighborhood
associations and the press.

You are invited to attend a community meeting Monday evening, May 15, at 7:00 PM at the South Berkeley Senior
Center, at which we will make a formal announcement of the Task Force members and explain the outlines of
the Task Force process to the public. Our intent will be to set the basic parameters and operational
procedures for the Task Force, while encouraging significant creativity and latitude in the process. We
will let you know more about that in the coming days.

The first meeting of the Task Force is set for Monday, May 22 at 7:00 PM, also at the South Berkeley Senior
Center. At that meeting, Project Director Ed Church will make a presentation about the context and
background of the Task Force's work, and Jeffrey Ordway from BART will make a presentation about BART's
