Marmot Precip pants work well, are reasonably rugged, inexpensive and light
at 7 oz.

I have a pair I might be willing to sell. I've used them twice. I like them,
but they are too short for my 34" inseam.

My other (much heavier duty) pants are Arc Teryx Beta LT's. Really excellent
fit (ordered tall size) and rugged while still reasonably light. but *very*
expensive and certain overkill for warm weather conditions.

Re: I hate to open this Pandora's box.. but.. *creeek*

I use only the large pan which holds 40 ounces and I made a lid from
aluminum flashing with a thumb screw handle that weighs .4 ounces. The lid
seats tight enough to pick the pot up by the thumb screw with two and a half
cups of water in it. The total weight for the lid and pan is 5.4 ounces. So
as you see I carry less weight than if I was carrying the snow peak Trek
1400. I could purchase the snow peak and make my own lid and I suppose it
would be a bit lighter but than again so would my wallet!

Thanks Carol, I guess that's why the Dragonfly seems to be the most
coveted jacket.
Best,

Re: Rain/Wind pants

Jerry,
As one who was involved in the early testing of the RainShield suits,
I can attest to their excellent water shedding ability and their extreme
light weight. I feel that it is important to note for anyone contemplating a
purchase that these garments are somewhat suceptible to snags (especially the
lightweight 2 layer material) and it can be troublesome to put pants on over
shoes or boots since none I've ever seen in the RainShield line have zippers
or velcro openings at the bottom of the legs. This feature by the way was
one of my suggestions to RainShield which wasn't accepted by them.
