Optimus 80

I have an Optimus 80 stove. I have not used it in quite awhile. I have a pump for it also. Doesn't the pump have
two parts? The pump itself and something you screw onto the stove itself? I don't know if/when I lost the
screw on part? Can anyone tell me more about the part and where I can get it

Thanks
GB

Alky Stoves

The hold punch from Staples looks like it will work.  I looked at all the stores here and the only one I found
was at WalMart so I guess that explains the quality.   When I go to Anchorage, I will go to Staples.  The
punch from Amazon looks great but is pretty spendy.

Thanks,

GB

alky stoves

I just made my first alcohol stove. It was easy - the Cat stove. However, all the directions I saw said to use a
paper hole punch. I tried it with a brand new punch and it would not go through the walls. I had to use a drill.
Is there a better punch I can use or am I missing something?

I would also like to make more stoves. Are there any in particular that people like? I know there are lots of
different types so would like to winnow the possibilities. One I plan to make is one out of a Budweiser
aluminum bottle (not can).

Thanks
GB

Fosters can into a pot

I have 2 smooth edge/ side-cut can openers.
Neither one will cut the Fosters can at the lip.

My regular can opener turned upside down cut the whole rim off, so now it is
a sharp edge, no rim, and very flimsy.

Pyrex makes another smooth edge can opener.
Does anyone have experience using a smooth edge/ side cut can opener with
Fosters Can?
Especially one that leaves part of the lip on the "lid" and on the "pot".

What brand can opener did you use?

Ken in NC

P.S. Now I see I could have included the Fosters Keg pots in my last order
from Trail Designs and saved the extra shipping cost.
Cheap at 5.95 each.

Hipolito stove

We just bought an old house and found one of these on a shelf in the garage.
<http://www.lamplanternstove.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24&Itemid=39>
Mint condition, in the original tin box, never been used. I'm afraid to touch it for fear of tarnishing the
still shiny brass.
Looking for a manual. Looks like it burns kerosene. I'm not even sure where to buy kero anymore. Does it burn
anything else?

SPAM --- Sorry

I seem to have had my email accounts hijacked.
The stuff was NOT sent from my computer (Originating-IP: [151.77.201.43])
I changed the password, but that didn't seem to stop it because another came
later that day.

If the moderator wishes to ban me till I fix it, please do so.

MSR and Vapore stove ????

Is this Vapore stove finally gonna hit the market?
A guy at REI said MSR reps are to meet with them, and he guesses it is a new
product, probably a stove to compete with the new SOTO stove.

I am guessing the stove will be a commercially viable and improved version
of the military prototype capillary stove.

Last I heard the fuel the commercial public gets didn't work well with it.

Any news from anyone?

If Jerry know he may not be able to say .... YET!!!!

RE: MSR Stoves for Sale

Somebody really should jump on the XGK for only $75.

It's my stand-by. Not quite as quick-boiling as the Sierra Zip Stove, but about as handy to get fuel for.
Loud stoves, but will burn anything, and expedition designed and proven.

I once forget to top up my tank of naptha ("Coleman" fuel or white gas) before heading out. So I filled it the
rest of the way with deisel from a truck, and it ran happily.
Once, the weld between the steel generator tube and the brass alloy jet body broke and it was sending out a
nice huge gout of raw fuel flame (there was supposed to be a nut fitting to hold the jet body & tube still in the
stove, but it was old second hand).
I took it to a local store, hoping it wouldn't be too expensive for MSR to fix it.
MSR fixed it, cleaned it up like new, replaced a couple of parts mine didn't have, and shipped it back, ALL FREE.
