Autoimmune and Autism

Neil brought up the connection between autoimmune disease and autism so I just did a search on it and here's
the latest evidence...

Quote: "Although the study is designed to find associations among diseases, it is not able to prove that
autoimmune disorders cause autism, says the University of Washington's Karen Toth, a clinical
psychologist who was not involved in the study."

"But Toth says it's possible that the same genes are involved in autoimmune diseases and autism.
Researchers have known for many years that autism can run in families, Toth says. And scientists have
found genes that may be involved in autism"

This is very weak evidence and says nothing about what if any connection there is to autism.

I am a female that has autism-the aspergers form of autism I am wondering is there anyone that can help me so I

Hello Everyone

I am a female that has autism the Aspergers kind I live in Charlotte, North Carolina I feel bad because my work
manager at my job at Charlotte Health Care gets upset at me when I request off of work on a weekend I am
scheduled to work for things like going on an overnight trip with my group home which my group home
schedules their overnight trips on weekends I am suppose to work, special Olympic Qualifiers, special
Olympic State games,etc.I cannot help it about when I request off of work for a group home overnight tip
etc.. I would like to be able to go on a group home overnight trip etc... I do not know How I am going to be able to
go on a group home overnight trip since the group home schedules their overnight trips on weekends I am
scheduled to work at my Job at Charlotte Health Care. I
  also do not feel good because my Job calls me in to work on weekday evenings at the last minute because of the
fact I am an ON CALL ONLY person at my Job. I do not like being an ON CALL ONLY person at my Job.I also do not Feel
good because My Job which is at Charlotte Health Care expects me to come to work If I am scheduled and there is
snow on the ground which closes schools and The Van for my group home cannot run at all- I do not want to be
walking in the snow on the ground at all My job at Charlotte Health Care will not listen to me about this. I am
wondering How can I find a Part Time Job that is a WEEKDAY SET SCHEDULE ONLY JOB with no night time work and no
weekend work because the group home will not help me with looking for a Job? I would like to work at a Day Care
Center for Ch
 ildren or at Pizza Hut again I have worked at a Day Care Center for Children and Pizza Hut Before. Is there

Group home manager that will not listen to me at All about the fact the group home has not had any snack foods
like: chips, cookies, crackers, Pudding, Fruit Cocktail , Sliced Peaches , Juice Drinks and Bananas for
me to eat with my lunch Sandwich at the group home and my Group home manager is Yelling at me Saying that she

I wish I had more time

I apologize for not participating in this list on a regular basis, but there's good reason: I am so busy
answering e-mails from my OWN subscribers, there's no time left to regularly browse discussion boards.  

Between being both a college Learning Specialists and a parent who raised a son with LD/ADD, I've had 35
years of experience working with students with learning disabilities.

Where I work, I see a very high failure rate among this cohort.  Yet my son graduated college successfully. 
What did he do differently ?

Between my professional and personal experience, I've learned A LOT.  My son's success made me passionate
about success for others with his profile (normal intelligence, motivated, acknowledges disability,
desire to go to college).

Hello Everyone

I am a female that has Autism the Aspergers Kind and I live in a group home and I am wanting to let you know I am
being treated Mean at the group home because the group home manager will not help me so I can pick up my work
schedule from Charlotte Health Care at 4:00pm and still be able to go on the Outing which is going to the
Movies at the Movie Theater. The Group home Manager is Saying that the group home will not take me to go pick
up my schedule at Charlotte Health Care and that I have to take the Bus to go pick up my work schedule because
her Boss told her I MUST TAKE The Bus to go pick up my work schedule I have tried to explain to the group home
manager that if I take the Bus to Charlotte Health Care to go pick up my work schedule I will miss the chance on
being able to go to the m
 ovies because the bus goes one way down the street near my house. What Can I do ? Is there anyone that can Help me.

issues about snow and Icy weather in the Winter of 2009 the group home will not help me with about resolveing
at all The issues are:
1. I am upset because My Job coach and my work manager at Charlotte Health Care will not listen to me about the
fact  when there is snow on the ground that is deep enough to close Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools I do not
want to be walking in the Snow at all
2.I am upset because My Job Coach and My work manager at Charlotte Health Care Will not listen to me about the
fact that bus that goes in front of my job at Charlotte Health Care does not run on Sundays and due to this my
only ride is the group home van and If there is snow on the ground on a Sunday the group home van does not run at
all 
3. I am upset because My Job Coach and My work Manager at Charlotte Health Care will not listen to me about the
fact that the bus that goes in front of Charlotte Health Care does not run on the Martin Luther King holiday
