RE: Re: clipboard is no longer working

I have been on both sides of that kind of audit.
The last time because the company received a notice from whatever the name
of that software licensing watchdog agency is. The wanted to make sure that
any and all software installed was actually licensed. Sounds like you have a
much harder go of it though. I know from looking at the lists the auditing
software creates that the average PC runs a stupid number of executables, or
has them on the hard drive, which are actually OS or otherwise related to
the general function, but have no "official" listing anywhere. I wish MS
and others had an output list of what .exe files and version numbers for
those files were installed with each application, upgrade, etcetera.
Although, come to think of it, might make my life harder - I would be
expected to then track those files. Hrmmm... nice Catch-22.

creating a theme from scratch

Hello list.

I've just started useing Litestep, and I want to create my own theme, but have no idea how to do it (apart from
editing the images of another theme). I know basically what features I want, and how I want it to look. I have
a jpg image that has most the features on it, but I'm not sure how to send it to the list. Also, I’ve installed
the Lite Step Theme Maker, but don’t know how to use it. If anyone has any tutorials, or would like to help, I
would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

RG

welcome to the world of LiteStep!

First off, I think you should uninstall LiteStep Theme Maker. You'll
learn more from building from scratch, IMO, and I'm not sure the theme
maker is up-to-date as regards settings and such.

For tutorial, please visit shell-shocked.org:
http://shell-shocked.org/article.php?id=272 and the WIKI:
http://wiki.litestep.com/LiteStep:Configuration

I'd give you more information, but I think the best you can do is to
follow the tutorial, and "de-building" othere themes before you start
your own project. If you would like comments on the look of your theme,
I suggest hosting it on Imageshack: http://www.imageshack.us/ and post
the link here, I'm sure you'll get suggestions on how you can best
accomplish what you want (by more competent themers than myself).

good luck.

Re: creating a theme from scratch

This is a good resource: http://wiki.litestep.com/Themes:Development

As far as the Litestep Theme Maker, I'd say avoid it. Just use notepad (or
similar, more powerful text editor).

Re: Re: creating a theme from scratch

Hello, and thank you for your response. Everyone else so far has just given me a link. I was looking through
the shell-shocked tutorial, and it mentioned the "Litestep Control Panel." Is that something worth
looking at? Or is it the same as the theme maker? Also, what is "IMO?" I’m going to start reading the
tutorial, and hopefully successfully making a theme.
Thanks for your help.
