Re: rabidvwm-1.2.1

hi there

nice update, i especially like the window flashing.

but i think i've found a bug: trying to use ^ <at> mxs^ and ^ <at> mys^, it
returns strange values ranging from "on screen, but wrong" till "i don't
think there's a deskop resolution greater than one million". ;)

btw, i wouldn't mind if i knew the new syntax for mzscript(-1.0beta)'s
mousex and mousey... if there is any.

p.s.: my first mail to the ls mailing list, wow :)

hm :( with !vwmexec, yes. This should be pretty easy to fix though.
(two 'false's in !VWMExec need to become 'true's, I think) Give me a
couple of days and I'll try to get out a 1.2.2

There isn't. But this also should be pretty easy to fix. It looks like
all the code is there, they just aren't set up. (looks like it just
needs to call SetupVarFuncs somewhere)

That %{bpp} won't work though (same as in mzscript-0.9.x).  I've got a
fixed version, but it's sliced up a bit since I'm doing things
differently. And who uses %{bpp} anyway?

xLabel contains a command to do that without using a label at all:

- Changed: !Labelmzscriptvarcopy has been removed and
           !LabelInfoExport has been added!
           2 Methods possible:
            1. Modified Old Style
               !LabelInfoExport <labelname> <mzscript var or $Evar$>
            2. New Style
               !LabelInfoExport <mzscript var or $Evar$> <Text Escape Sequence>
           If you specify an %#Evar%# (WITH SURROUNDING "%#") the
processed Text Escape Sequence
           or LabelText is copied in this Evar. If no surrounding "%#"
is found the value is copied
           in a mzscript variable with the given name

Explorer loading as shell despite DesktopProcess flag win64 beta

I'm running the XP 64 bit beta build 1218, and have litestep working.
However, despite the DesktopProcess flag in the registry being set to
one, explorer still loads as shell. Is there a workaround for this yet?

I can state with some confidence that I do not. Had to look it up in your docs
to see WTF it was in the first place... (I did guess right though!)

thanks, i'll wait patiently. :)

somewhat funny coincidence that both ways of getting mouse coordinates
(rabidvwm & mzscript) are broken with the current versions...

That's why I'm still using 0.9.13 for everyday use. I use a couple of script
bangs and labels to switch desktops when I bang against the edges of the screen.
  You could use hotspots (as in the rabidvwm docs example), but I script a small
time delay in there to make sure I "really" want to switch, as opposed to just
clumsily overshooting a scroll bar or something. And I added a short desktop
switching sound effect, just for fun.

Re: Explorer loading as shell despite DesktopProcess flag win64 beta

There's no seperateprocess key anywhere in the registry. I wonder if
this is just something they didn't consider? The strange thing is: I
SWEAR I had it working right for a few minutes............

Re: Explorer loading as shell despite DesktopProcess flag win64 beta

In Windows XP Service Pack 2 I cannot seem to prevent Explorer from loading as
the shell either unless I set the shell in the HKLM section of the registry. The
tweaks I'd used in the past to set up Litestep as the shell on a per-user basis
(like the seperateprocess key) don't seem to work anymore. The regfile I'd made
to do all the necessary changes is as follows:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\system.ini\boot]
"shell"="USR:Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"shell"="C:\Litestep\Litestep.exe"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"DesktopProcess"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"DesktopProcess"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"shell"=-

In the past those settings always allowed me to use Litestep on some accounts
and explorer on others, while using Explorer as a filebrowser in Litestep
without it running as the shell. In SP2, it still allows me to set up Litestep
and Explorer on a per-user basis, but explorer now runs as the shell if I try to
open it in any of the litestep accounts. I've looked all over trying to figure
