Littele Question about litestep.com

Hi @ all

here is a little question at josh or at the ls dev Team

What will happen with litestep.com?

There is not really much this time. But I'm glad to see changes there.

By the way:

What's about to put links to all available LiteSTEP sites on the net.

There are not so much that time.

Best Regards

LiteStep on Vista

Fellow 'Steppers,

I have recently come over a new laptop with Vista
pre-installed. I will definitely not work without LiteStep,
so I face the task of either installing XP (forfeiting, e.g.
Office 2007) or dealing with hiccups in using LS.
How usable is the very latest, unstable version under Vista?
Has there been any significant progress since the last State
of the Step in April, where it said: "Still, LiteStep 0.24.8
should be usable on Vista. Maybe not the Betas, but the
final release should."
How far are you guys?

Thanks for keeping LiteStep up to date!

Bjoern

We expect this release to be a drop-in replacement for 0.24.7. If you

appreciate it. You can contact us at our team address: devteam [at]

What active non-english LiteStep community portals are out there?

I'm currently remembering www.litestep.de and www.litestep-france.net

Any others?

State of the Step April 2008

Dear LiteSteppers,

When you least expect it... an update from your friendly LiteStep
Development Team:

Welcome to the April 2008 edition of the State of the Step!

On the agenda this time:

1. The Development Team
2. LiteStep vs. Litestep
3. LiteStep 0.24.8
4. Windows Vista
5. In Closing...

Go!

1. The Development Team
- A(nother) new lineup
-------------------------

Development at a snail's pace... and that's being nice. jugg and I
(ilmcuts) have been working on the core on and off, but that's hardly
enough to fulfill the expectations. Thus we went out recruiting people.
Of the several people we contacted, we are proud to announce that three
have accepted the offer. Welcome, Acidfire, Tobbe, and Xjill!

This means the devteam now is:

Litestep.Info

As some of you might remember, there was a large amount of talk
semi-recently regarding bringing litestep.info back online. A lot of
talk, not much action, both on here and on West's board (which seems to
be down :-( )

The site's intent was to be an "informative", user-friendly place for
new and prospective users.

Anyhow, I thought it prudent to ask YOU, the litestep users, what sort
of ideas could be seen as "informative" and thus, something to be
considered as content for the site.

As I recall, things "we" DON'T want:

    * Forums -- We have enough of these. I don't really think having
      forums is necessary.
    * Wiki -- Dont think another one of this is needed either, as we
      already have one: http://wiki.litestep.com.ar/Index (Note:
      Although, I like the idea of a wiki.litestep.info mirror/redirect
      thing)
    * Themes -- We have SEVERAL sites that cover this as well. Also,
doesn't fit into the scope of the site either.

Things we "do" like/want:

    * Module Documentation: This is a *big* undertaking however, and not
something that would be available at launch.
    * Articles/Tutorials:
o Theme Reviews: This was discussed on the forums, I think it
would be a nice idea to do a weekly review of a theme, with

Was Re: "OTS3"

? you need a direct download for a tool, or a url to refer people to?

www.lsdev.org will always have the downloads available. If you need a
link to the last release, one is currently at:

http://www.lsdev.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=lsdev:downloads:ls-0.24.7.zip

If you're desiring a generic url, please let me know for what purpose so
we can see if a solution can be had.

"OTS3"

Greetings,

yet again i come in peace and with an anouncement regarding the litestep
distribution that could be ots3:

Since Andymon released his great ThemeManager (
http://www.ls-universe.info/news.php?item.455.1 ) with support for ots3, i
have all the tools required for a "normal" Litestep distribution. So i
made one :]

Features:

- a neat installer
- full ots2 compability (if not its a bug)
- no additional requirements ( "no python" )
- all that ots3 stuff (
http://www.ls-themes.org/index.php?cat=article&show=ots3 )

Why use it?

While nothing speaks *against* using it, there are only meta benefits from
using it either.
What i mean by that is that nothing will change if you just install and
use it. How could it, since your theme will stay the same and there are no
ots3 themes so far.

There is only one reason to use it: *If* you improve it, everyone,
including
you, can benefit from it. OTS2 wont change anymore, but OTS3 can and will
benefit from your help!
