I get the same error from all back up copies. The last successful action i took prior to receiving the error message was to set an alarm on an appointment. I get the message whenever I try to drag a patient's name over to the calendar, and the message reads that the action cannot be completed, low memory condition detected. I also tried typing in the appointment in the calendar and got the same message on the first keystroke. Per JS's advice I have made a copy of all files in a safe folder.
I established columns in the calendar for things like cancellation and failure to keep appointments, and those all still work fine. It is only when I try to drag a name to, or type on, an appointment time that the message pops up. I can still input ticklers, and I can delete appointments, I just can't make any.
The error message only occurs when I do the above. I would delete folders, but am not sure which one's I can delete safely and which would have a positive effect if deleted.
I keep a copy of my records on my home computer (encrypted) in case emergency and am a little worried about synchronizing the files in case there is something causing the problem at work that could spread to home. Any thoughts? I suppose that I could bring in a copy of the file from home and delete the work file (wouldn't lose much data), but am worried that the same problem would soon occur if the source is not addressed.
Is this something that I can address with the EM Advance Diagnostic Tool? If so, how?
Also, is it likely that running Recover would help?
Thank you both for your kind responses, your assistance is greatly appreciated,
Jonathan

You are right the total number of items in the file has the limit about 65k, but there may be other causes for the low memory condition error. So,
1) Relax, close Ecco, copy yourfile.eco and yourfile.bk1, yourfile.bk2, etc. to another location (e.g. make new folder SAFE). So that you do not worry that you may damage your files during recovery attempts.
2) Try to open any bk files starting from bk1 (Ecco menu File | Open and select All Files (*.*) in a Dropbox at the bottom of Open dialogue)
If there is no error message, save the bk file under new name and use it. (do not forget to make another copy of it in case the error appears again)
If there is the error message in all bk files,
3) Try to described in more details when the error appears (immediately after opening the file, or after any your action). Can you do anything after you close the error message? Try to remember what you have been doing before the error appeared first time.

Subject: [eccopro] The dreaded low memory condition
Well, after using Ecco since the first version without any difficulties, I finally got it. I'm sitting at work and can't book my patients and get the low memory message every time I try. Help!
I ran EM Reporter and it says that I have:
20,802 items
2,905 View lines
3,503 pointers
44,725 free
What gives? I thought the limit was over 65,000. More importantly, what do I do? Do I need to run Recover, or what?
Please bear in mind that I am pretty much a Ludite and not tech savvy.
Many Thanks,
Jonathan
