Wiki maintainer wanted

Hello,

I am the current "maintainer" of the Sawfish Wiki. I put maintainer
under double quotes because I hardly deserve that title. I migrated to
another window manager and I'm therefore no sawfish user anymore. My
interest in maintaining this wiki is low, but it certainly needs
maintainance as every PHP software needs constant care for
security. Next to upgrading pmwiki, a captcha plugin should be
installed.

Pmwiki is easy to install, just drop the tar ball into a php-enabled
server. No database needed. I also volunteer to clean up the spam that
accumulated in the wiki before migration.

Please step forward, if you have an interest in this resource being
available, and you are interested in taking over the maintainer
ship. http://sawfish.endorphin.org would then be configured to emit a
redirect to your location.

My plan B is turn this wiki into a static set of web pages,
and disabling PHP/pmwiki, effectively killing the wiki.

Re: Wiki maintainer wanted

Hi Clemens,

I too have migrated away from sawfish (in fact I've migrated my
desktop to another OS entirely) however I'd be more than willing to
oversee the migration to something like http://pbwiki.com/. In which
case the security becomes "someone elses problem" which is the best
kind of problem to have. It'd be a shame to let the wiki die again.
Of course I'll only really put in the effort to migrate if the rest
of the "community" is going to actually use the wiki, and if no one
else is willing to take some sort of responsibility for it.

PB, or similar "we put the service, you put the text" site, sounds
like a nice idea as community would had to only care about content.
Which reminds me I recently found a handful of scripts that could be
uploaded somewhere... should I wait?

Well, it would be sad if the wiki disappeared. I've no experience
maintaining one, but if none steps up, i'm proposing myself.

I don't have a reliable web space to use, so other than the pbwiki.com
above, i'm going to ask if freedesktop guys are ok hosting the wiki on
their server...

help eliminating error popups from sawfish

Hi.

I've been getting some errors from sawfish whenever I run certain
programs, and wonder how I could either fix the errors or get rid
of the messages.

Specifically, about half the time, whenever a java program opens
a new window, or whenever I change desktops and expose a java
program, sawfish tells me something such as:

  Bad argument: #<subr x-atom-name>, 1684090739, 1

It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it's annoying to have to
click it to make it disappear. I'd prefer to log a traceback
somewhere, instead of seeing a pop-up onscreen.

So, any ideas?

The sawfish variable 'error-destination can be used to direct error
messages to different destinations. It probably has the value 'screen
in your case, try to set it to 'standard-error instead. This should
make the error message go to stderr (possibly redirected to
~/.xsession-errors).

This setting can be altered from within sawfish-ui as well,
(Miscellaneous -> Error Handling).

sawfish Wiki error

i opened this Sawfish Wiki page:

http://sawfish.endorphin.org/SawfishWiki/SawfishWikiLibrary

just go to the top of page and you will see LOTS of ERRORS:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/sawfish/public_html/pmwiki.php on line 851
Warning: Division by zero in /home/sawfish/public_html/pmwiki.php on line 851
................
...............
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at /home/sawfish/public_html/pmwiki.php:851) in
/home/sawfish/public_html/pmwiki.php on line 697

i opened the page some some months ago and that ERROR was still there
then, till today the "Admin" did not correct it :-(

it seems like error in the script (written on the server where Sawfish
Wiki is located) i request you to correct it as i can not change it
and it gives pretty BAD impression about sawfish community :-(

The current admin has lost interest in maintaing the wiki, i've
volunteered to move it to another host, to do so i've asked to open a
new project at freedesktop.org (
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10595 ).

Right now i'm waiting for an answer from them...

Help with a window behavior (Gentoo, sawfish + Gnome)

I need help with setting up this behavior..

I'd like to embed a VNC session into a workspace. All multimeidia keys and
workspace switching keys should be handled by GNOME/Sawfish. But all other
keys should be passed directly to the VNC session.

If i launch vncviewer (RealVnc) in fullscreen mode, then all keys including
multimeida and workspace keys are passed to the vnc.

I appreciate any tips on how to do this.

Thanks in advance,

Sawfish beginner

i want to start using a Window Manager and Sawfish has caught my
attention. So i read Sawfish Wiki at http://sawfish.endorphin.org/
but there is no *proper* documentation e.g. something like "Sawfish
user How to" is not there. all i got was the Sawfish (Programming)
Manual. i never configured and created an interface using a Window
Manager before, except WindowMaker, where everything is ready-made.

any ideas on start using Sawifish like, creating a Pager where i can
switch a Desktop or creating application launcher which can launch
applications by entering commands in it .
