You should turn on link by UID. This really should be the default, I've not
put a site live in the past few years that does not have this feature
switched on.

Re: change default_charset in /portal_properties/site_properties F\xe9licitations\u2009!

In fact while running the site I have no tracebacks but some documents
are not found by search: clearing and rebuilding the catalog doesn't
help
and it is was searching for clues that I try to change the default charset
but I had some when I try to copy the site or a part of it ..
and I tried to exploit the tracebacks
I tracked some offending contents as Andreas Jung says
and amended them
I had this type of (partial) tracebacks
    *  Module Products.Archetypes.BaseFolder, line 148, in Title
    * Module Products.Archetypes.Field, line 851, in get
    * Module Products.Archetypes.Field, line 136, in encode

UnicodeEncodeError: 'latin-1' codec can't encode character u'\u2013'
in position 8: ordinal not in range(256)
I removed all the incriminated characters in the titles so far
The other type is
    *  Module Products.Archetypes.BaseFolder, line 262, in Description
    * Module wicked.fieldevent, line 29, in render
    * Module zope.event, line 23, in notify
    * Module zope.component.event, line 24, in dispatch
    * Module zope.component._api, line 136, in subscribers
    * Module zope.component.registry, line 321, in subscribers
    * Module zope.interface.adapter, line 583, in subscribers
    * Module wicked.fieldevent, line 16, in notifyFieldEvent
    * Module zope.component._api, line 107, in getMultiAdapter
    * Module zope.component._api, line 120, in queryMultiAdapter
    * Module zope.component.registry, line 238, in queryMultiAdapter
    * Module zope.interface.adapter, line 530, in queryMultiAdapter
    * Module wicked.fieldevent.meta, line 78, in field_value

I this of interest for debugging your problem? No, it isn't since improper
encoded
data are just an indicator of a problem but don't give you any information
which persistent content object is having the problem. That's why we told
you already days ago
to use the Python debugger. Have you used? If yes, what is the result? If
no: use it and come back with some more reasonable information. If you can't
solve this issue on your own: find a consultant (which might be the best and
cheapest solution since you don't do any progress...).

Problem copying a folder containing a Controller Page Template

I fell, I believe in the bug http://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/3875
I follow the advice given 6 years ago by wtavares : delete your
customized Controler Script Python
it does work for me
How can I debug this ?
Is there an update to
Seems this is indeed a bug in CMFFormController. I don't see anyone

Changed 3 years ago by cbc ¶

This bug has been ruining my life for months. I'd like to thank lupaz
for the sort of workaround. I'm ticked that this has been batted back
and forth pointing fingers between upstream and downstream communities
without progress for three years. This is a Plone 2.x bug because
Plone is a product, copying a site is a basic task required in many
production best practices, CMFFormController is an integral part of
Plone 2.x, and TTW skins are not something which should be broken in
Plone no matter how any developer feels about them. If the cause of
the bug is manifested in an upstream framework, then by all means open
a ticket in the upstream collector and reference it in this ticket.
But don't just close off this ticket as invalid and say "Nothing we
can do about it." That's bull. It's a Plone bug *and* it's a Zope bug.
If Plone uses something broken in Zope, then that's a bug in Plone. If
you don't want to work on it, fine. But don't close it. It's a
long-standing bug. In Plone. And in Zope.

reading not compulsary ! change default_charset in /portal_properties/site_properties F\xe9licitations\u2009!

by mistake I send my mail to a member of the list
I have already apologized .. I don't want to apologize again for a
duplicate, that explains the warning "reading not compulsary !"
answers from others are only slighty hoped

True, I don't have traceback to offer
some documents don't appear when there are searched for that 's all,
where I shall put pdb    ? I don't have any clue ..
I am trying now for weeks to understand what or where is the problem

I thought that the errors I encounter when I make a copy
could be related but now
when I try to copy one folder ... I m back to "normality"
with a bug opened 7 years ago

I don't expect anymore answers but I'm thinking that this mail may
help someone who like me had not give enough clues to start to a

the problem is "why some documents are not found by search ?" even
after clearing and rebuilding the catalog

at least I've got something !
on my instance I have created 3 empty Plone French, German and English

Finding content differences between 2 zope databases

We recently had some corruption in our zope database that was identified
after restoring a backup to another test server. We are running plone 3.3.5
and have all files stored as blobs on the file system. We do not have a lot
of expertise with plone/zope and were wondering if there was a way to
compare these two databases and see exactly what files are missing (get a
list from the restored database and compare it against a list from the
existing database).

Thank you for your time and help!

Re: Finding content differences between 2 zope databases

Comparison on which level? Check if content objects are just missing or
checks on the content object themselves (comparison on the field level)?

In addition to what you've been told already you could also
make 'support' and action (possible TTW in ZMI ->portal_actions)
Set the URL to wherever you want it to go to and be done with it.

Looking for ATColorPickerWidget 0.1.3 - plone.org links broken

Does anyone have a copy of ATColorPickerWidget 0.1.3 laying around that they could send me? The links on plone.org are broken, and I need to install ATFlashMovie 0.3 on a Plone 2.5.5 site, and it requires ATColorPickerWidget.

Thanks!
