Folders not displayed

Hi Plone users,

I have a problem with a Plone site.
I have an instance of Plone 3.3.4 with several sites.
And I have a problem with one of them.

In fact, when I am logged in admin on the Plone site, at the root of it, and
I click on content, there are no folders ('This folder has no visible items.
To add content, press the add button, or paste content from another
location.').
But in the ZMI, I have a folder 'Extranet' and a folder 'Members'.

I don't understand why they don't appear on my site.

Have you got an idea please ?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Folders not displayed

Thank you for your help.

But do you know how to solve it ?

I've tried to do the following action in uid_catalog, reference_catalog and
portal_catalog :

In the tab 'Indexes', 'select all' and 'reindex', and in the tab 'Advanced',
'Update Catalog'.

But without no result.

Is it the good way to do that ?

Another idea ?

Thank you for your help.

Did you try "Clear and Rebuild"?

Re: Folders not displayed

if it's a catalog problem, in the ZMI, in portal_catalog, advanced tab clic on the "clear and rebluid" button.

if not, have you modified the folder_listing view ?

Probably not "regular folders" (so they are not supposed to show in plone).
Add a new folder from plone, go to the zmi and compare the type of the folders.

I'll refer you to http://docs.zope.org/zopetoolkit/about/history.html

I don't expect Plone to work with Python 3.x anytime soon, there's much work
still to be done even to get the core Zope Toolkit working and stable. The
slow and steady work towards reducing Zope 2 to a more manageable core
continues. Recent Plone code makes use of ZTK based infrastructure instead
of older Zope2/CMF based infrastructure. Plone will never run on Zope 3.6
(what has now been renamed to Blue Bream) that is a completely different
application server. Instead I expect Plone to move to some smaller
descendent of the existing Zope2 publisher running in a WSGI pipeline.

So take a deep breath and relax. The underlying technology will continue to
evolve, but there are many other more user facing aspects of Plone that are
more immediately important.

Laurence

Says who?

Python 2 still has a hugely more active and usable ecosystem than Python 3.

Zope 2 has regular releases and continues to evolve with the incorporation of new Zope and non-Zope technologies. The most recent example is probably full WSGI support (which is still an experimental way to deploy Plone, but will surely become the standard way before long).

It is a mature platform, for sure, but that's hardly a bad thing.

Plone will adopt the technologies that enable us to build the best CMS we can build. We'll not rush headlong into new technologies because someone decided to increment a version number. Python 3, in particular, has huge, complex backwards compatibility implications, not just for Plone developers, but for the thousands of active and legacy installations out there and the many hundreds of developers who have code under maintenance.

You should be very glad we take this seriously, and don't just play with the most cutting edge technologies with no regard for the overall quality of the solution and the Plone ecosystem.

Martin

Re: zope 3.6, python3.1 support is needed NOW

I dont know about python 3.x but, python 2.7 is a close enough variant of
python 2.6, and we have the one and only pypy JIT interpreter for python
2.7. That would be awesome, and I think it is very doable :P (I can help)
