migrate 1.0.3 --> 2?

Hi -

I'm trying to run a test update to Plone 2 on a copy of my 1.0.3 site
so I can see what repairs if any we'll need to make once we upgrade -
but the migration isn't working out. Can someone point me in the
right direction?

My host informed me that he installed a separate Zope version with
Plone 2 and put a copy of my 1.0.3 instance there as well as a new
instance. I went to portal_migration in the 1.0.3 instance, ran
upgrade and received this:

Starting the migration from version: 1.0.3
Attempting to upgrade from: 1.0.3
Upgrade to: 1.0.4, completed
Attempting to upgrade from: 1.0.4
Upgrade to: 1.0.5, completed
Attempting to upgrade from: 1.0.5
No upgrade path found from that version, migration stopping
End of upgrade path, migration has finished

In the new instance, portal_migration has a red arrow next to it and
selecting migrate informs me that this instance is out of date
(Instance version: 2.0-beta3, and File system version: 2.0-rc1). But
isn't this the current version? So I looked at the force upgrade drop
box on the new instance and noticed an option for 2.0 beta 2; in my
1.03 (now 1.05) instance, I don't see that option.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: default FTP folder

...well, when my users FTP to my site, I don't want them to see my
"index_html" and news items, etc. Nor anything having to do with zope or
plone. I want a clean FTP area for them to trade files... I don't want to
change anything having to do with user accounts. Just, "How do I change the
default location of Zope FTP?"

can Plone2 GRUP replaced by other Userfolder?

Hi,

We have a set of user data (eg. Userlogin, password...) which is using and
storing in MySQL. Can I use the existing data in Plone 2 ? If yes, what
things do I need to remark? In hurry......

best regards,
Albert Lee

Re: migrate 1.0.3 --> 2?

You will need to wait until Plone 2.0 RC2 is released (or perhaps use
the latest from the CVS). Beta versions do not have the migration script
available.

Re: migrate 1.0.3 --> 2?

Drag - we were advised to upgrade before going live - and I need to
go live by mid-December. Any news on when RC2 might be out? Any
thoughts on these release candidates on a live site?

Thanks!

Cindy

exisiting user folder you have.

I wrote up something a couple of days ago...
http://plone.org/Members/russf/pantherInstalls/python232_Zope27

It's not so hard, and it seems to work like a treat!

Please give me some feedback if you try it, while it's still fresh in my
  mind.

problems going from Plone 1.0.5 to 2.0-RC2

Hello,

I've just got the Plone tar.gz file from test.plone.org and I've
beginning rewriting the document I made on its installation.
Hence I did not try to "upgrade" my old Plone site into a new one. I
reinstalled all from scratch ! (which is needed to write the doc...)

Here are my tool/products versions. I install products using "mv" into
the Zope Products dir and the new interface to quickinstaller : plone
setup -> add/remove products.

- zope 2.6.2

- CMF 1.4.2

- Plone 2.0 RC2

- ExternalEditor 0.7 (zopeedit NOT INSTALLED YET as some more difficult
stuff seems to be needed ...)

- Epoz 0.7

- ZAttachmentAttribute 1.0 (moved into the Products dir)

- ZAAPlugins 1.0 (moved into the Products dir + portal setup ->
add/remove products,

Re: folder_view

Not sure how relevant this is to your query... but this might be something
you may want to consider:

Finding the folder_contents listing quite useful in terms of 'automatic
navigation', but lacking in terms of the content that could be added to the
page I cobbled together a 'contents page' in Archetypes (using a custom
view) and we're setting it as index_html within folders. It took a fairly
simple hack to remove the current document from the listed content :)

You can see it in practice at: http://www.engineering.ucl.ac.uk/departments/

We've opted to retain the type, size, date modified etc as a means of 'user
education' (need to get them used to the concept of doc types etc) but it
would be a fairly simple matter to adjust this to simply display just the
title and description... the main benefit of this over folder_view is it's
somewhat more compact, as well as the ability to add some descriptive
content etc above.

hth...
