Plone migration from Windows to Linux - Read-only filesystem problem

Hello Plone users,

I've just migrated a Plone chunk from Windows to an Ubuntu Server by
transferring the data.fs and Products files. The Plone site on the new
server us running ok. However, when i log in as manager and try to edit
things i get a security error, as follows: [Errno 30] Read-only file system

Could you help me on this?

Thanks in advance!

Windows installation - buildout scripts

<http://plone.org/products/plone/releases/3.1.6> shows that for the current
version 3.1.6 of Plone, the buildout-based installer for Windows is
'experimental'.

<https://launchpad.net/plone/+download> for a lazy overview of the points at
which buildout-based installers are, or have been, experimental.

I'm sometimes lost in Tracs but I suspect that (a) the script you seek is
here:
<http://dev.plone.org/plone/browser/Installers/Windows/trunk/3.1/buildout.cfg>

More importantly (b) I expect that the script will be installed in its
proper place if you use the experimental installer :)

As quality of buildout-based installers is a priority, I have no doubt that
any related report to Trac will be recognised swiftly.

Regards
Graham

Re: Best practice to install products for Plone 3.1.x

The new version of the windows installer (the "experimental") includes buildout.

If you're using an earlier installer, see:

Re: Best practice to install products for Plone 3.1.x

Use the "experimental" buildout installer and PROVIDE FEEDBACK.
It is going to drop the "experimental" soon. NEED FEEDBACK. We use it fine.

Re: Best practice to install products for Plone 3.1.x

Steve,

Let's no longer show anyone anything OTHER than the Windows installer buildout.
If that does not work - we need to figure out why. We need to *STOP* having
multiple paths to the goal. With regards to Windows *we must* tell people to
use the official Windows installers.

We already have too many ways to solve one problem in the software. We need
One True Way to configuration and install the software.

cheers
alan

p.s. if it sounds like I'm being bitchy it is because I am. We must discourage
people from anything other than the "official blessed installers".

p.p.s. you rock ;)

Yes.

Graham , you would be surprised. Very few people are reporting issues.
Because there are million ways to skin the cat and people are
wary of something called "experimental". They think its a time-suck
and they would rather go down the "non-experimental tried-and-true
way". Which is net loss for the individual and the community.

USE THE INSTALLER. REPORT BUGS.

Thank you 8-)
