RE: IncrementalSearch2 in Plone?

Okay, so no luck on that bug. (Besides the hack of cron'ing Zope/Plone
to restart itself.)

Here's another one:

(Plone 2.5.3 on Zope 2.9.7, same as below):

Try adding as a link, something like:

http://obfuscated/2007%20UC%20Davis%20IT%20Security%20Symposium/Secure_.
NET_web_development.mp3

This is merely annoying.

However, Plone insists on storing it as:

http://obfuscated/2007%2520UC%2520Davis%2520IT%2520Security%2520Symposiu
m/Secure_.NET_web_development.mp3

Which is, of course, wrong (in the sense of not resolving the correct
URL).

By inspection, Plone seems to insist upon inserting '52' between '2' and
'0' of %20.

Is this a bug, or supposed to be a feature? If it's a feature, what is
the intended purpose?

Plone 2.5.3->3 upgrade problems

I'm trying to upgrade some Plone 2.5.3-final sites on Linux to the latest
version of Plone (3.0.2). In both cases, I used the universal installer to
install as a Zeo cluster, and moved the data file from the old installation
to the new.

On one site, the Zeo cluster starts, as do the two clients. I migrated the
site (using plone_migration), and fixed any Product problems that I could
(although some may remain, possibly related to caching). I can log into the
ZMI, and I can view some objects in the Plone site, but Documents, News, and
Events throw some sort of transform errors.

I can view directories, images, links, Smart Folders (collections), and
files on the site. The errors I get on the other item types:

Error on viewing the site root ("home") Document item:
http://paste.plone.org/17565
Error on viewing another Document item: http://paste.plone.org/17569
Error on viewing a News item: http://paste.plone.org/17566
Error on viewing an Event item: http://paste.plone.org/17568

On another site, once I move the Data.fs file from the old site to the new
3.0.2 installation, and try to start the instance with "startcluster", all I
see is "Starting ZEO server ..." and then an infinite series of dots builds
across the screen and run indefinitely (indicating the server never starts).

If I then run "shutdowncluster.sh", it says "daemon manager not running" and
claims to shut down the client processes. However, checking active
processes shows that the server is indeed still partially running (the
lib/python/ZEO/runzeo.py Python script, and the server/bin/runzeo binary).

which install method is recommended

Hello,

I'm a brand new plone user. I recently downloaded the 3.0.2 unified
installer and used it to build my first plone site. (RedHat Linux,
root-install, zeo cluster, 2 clients). Now, I'm looking at the
documentation on plone.org, and alot of it seems to presume that you've used
buildout to build the install.

Can someone explain to me what the effective difference is between using
buildout and using the Unified Installer? Should I start over?

Thanks,
browni

The Unified Installer is great to get up and running quickly, and if you
plan to use Plone mostly as it comes out of the box, maybe with a few
add-on products.

The buildout approach is great if you're a developer, or if you want to
have a bit more fine-grained controlled. I also find it easier to work
with buildout when it comes to installing packages that are distributed
as eggs, which more and more packages are, but you can use the
easy_install binary that the Unified Installer installs to install
egg-based packages.

Note that in the future, we hope that the installers will actually just
create a pre-configured buildout for you, unifying (heh) these two
approaches further.

Re: Plone 3 & Active Directory Login Behavior.

JCL

We had this problem with our Plone 3.0.2 AD setup.

I am checking with my colleague on what he exactly did.

In the meantime, check your AD mappings. Are you getting any errors in
error log?

No "Plone Site" listed under Add menu in Zope

Hello, everyone,

This is my first message here and I am new to plone. I have some
trouble to install the plone and I will try to describe as much
details as I can. And hopefully someone can provide some suggestions.

I am trying to install the whole system on a Windows XP machine.
Instead of using plone installer, I would like to install each
component one by one. I first installed python2.4.4 under C:\python24.
Then I installed Zope2.10.4(binary) under C:\zope\2.10.4 and added an
instance at C:\zope\instance\2.10.4. I started zope by
C:\zope\instance\2.10.4\bin\runzope.bat and checked
localhost:8080/manage and everything ran ok. I then installed PIL
1.1.6 and elementtree 1.2.7 using binary package downloaded from
effbot.org. Then I extracted plone-3.0.2 lib\python and Products
folders into instance home.

When I ran runzope.bat, I got this error message:
C:\Zope\Instance\2.10.4\Products\Marshall\config.py:29: UserWarning: libxml2 not
available. Unable to register libxml2 based marshallers
warnings.warn('libxml2 not available. Unable to register libxml2 based ' \

In ZMI control panel - products, CMFPlone is not listed. "Plone Site"
is not listed under the Add menu in ZMI root folder.

I click "error_log" in ZMI root folder page, I got error:
Error Type: TraversalError
Error Value: ('No traversable adapter found', {'ignored_exceptions':
('Unauthorized', 'NotFound', 'Redirect'), 'keep_entries': 20,
'copy_to_zlog': True})

ploneLDAP configuration problem

We are deploying plone at our university and want that users be able to
authenticate with their Active Directory userID/passwords.

I have installed the PloneLDAP 1.0 rc3 on an instance of Plone 2.5.2 with
the automated installer for windows.
The products are installed correctly because I can add the plugins in the
acl_users folder of my plone instance.

However, I when I try to add the ActiveDirectory Multiplugin, I get the
following error.

info': '00002028: LdapErr: DSID-0C09018A, comment: The server requires binds
to turn on integrity checking if SSL\\TLS are not already active on the
connection, data 0, vece', 'desc': 'Strong(er) authentication required'

And when I add the Plone Active Directory plugin, it gives the following
error.

Error Type
SERVER_DOWN
Error Value
{'info': 'error:14090086:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed', 'desc':
"Can't contact LDAP server"}

I am sure this problem is with certificate management. I tried to employ the
hacks that I could find on the internet but none seem to work.
What I want to know is that, if this error is due to certificate not being

detailed explanation of Mail Settings

Hello,

There is apparently something in mail settings that I'm just not getting. I
just completed my first Plone install (3.0.2) with the unified installer
and I thought that I had set up my mail setting correctly, but I can't seem
to get any mail to go through.

I'm on a linux box, so I've got sendmail running. Here are the settings
I've used:
    SMTP server: localhost
    SMTP port: 25
ESMTP username: blank (not sure what I would use if required)
ESMTP password: blank (not sure what I would use if required)
    Site 'From' name: Site Administrator
Site 'From' address: browni <at> localhost

When I try to use the Contact link, I get a message saying, "Please correct
the indicated errors". There are no errors indicated, however.

I've searched here and seen that several people have noted similar behavior,
but I can't seem to find where anyone has actually posted the fix.

I would really appreciate any assistance.

browni.

Re: detailed explanation of Mail Settings

Not sure that this will fix your problem but "browni <at> localhost" is not a
complete, valid email address. You will want to specify a fully qualified
domain name for the host in your Site "From" address.

Also, are you doing this while logged in as (the built-in) admin or as a
regular user? If the former, try it as the latter...

Cheers,
Darci
