Migrate from Plone 2.0.5 to 2.5

Hello

I am one of maintener of Plone portal for TeX Polish Users Group GUST
(http://wwww.gust.org.pl). Our board decided to migrate from Plone
2.0.5 to 2.5. We wrote all info we found about migration, but still
have no positive result.

Here is what we did (there are no additiona products except Epoz):

1. Installed Plone 2.5
2. shutdown instance on old server
3. copy over old server Data.fs to new one
4. start up instance on new server
5. goto ZMI on new server and run "dry run" only

Here's the result this time (see below and at new site
http://www-nowy.gust.org.pl/gust).

Are we doing something wrong?

Result of the attempt...

Dry run selected.
Starting the migration from version: 2.0.5
Attempting to upgrade from: 2.0.5
Converted Plone Site to CMFDynamicViewFTI
Updated portal selectable views
Running manage_convertIndexes on ZCatalog instance 'portal_catalog'
Finished migrating catalog indexes for ZCatalog instance
'portal_catalog'

Re: Migrate from Plone 2.0.5 to 2.5

Migration also fails for me due to GRUF -> PAS at the same stage. Please
let the list know if you find a solution. I have heard something about
checking if there are Zope users with the same username as users in your
plone acl_users. However, I can't recall if there *is* or *isn't*
supposed to be matching users.

ploneScripts0399.js not caching with Apache

(Zope 2.9.5-final, python 2.4.3, linux2)
ZServer/1.1 Plone/2.5.1

http://38.119.187.37/graceway/portal_javascripts/Plone%20Default/ploneScripts0399.js

The autogenerated javascript file has an expiration date of about
three seconds into the future, hence, Apache is not caching the file.

Caching does, however, work for everything else on the site.

Images

I like the way Plone handles images on News items. That is, it automatically
creates a thumbnail for the page, and then when viewing the page, clicking on
the thumbnail takes the user to the full view mode. I am trying emulate this
same behavior with my regular Plone content pages (non-News items). Is there a
way to mimic this behavior? I don't want to create a thumbnail for every image I
have and I don't want to write code that links to the full image. I'd like Plone
to do it automatically.

Thanks in advance.

Plone Stack Overflow

Hi. This question has been asked before, but not answered definitivly
here or on Plone Users as far as I can tell.

Plone 2.5.1, Zope 2.9.5, Python 2.4.4 (Fedora Core 6)

In certain sub-versions of Internet Explorer 6, when visiting a Plone
2.5.1 site, a Windows error message is generated:

"Stack overflow at line: 0"

This appears in Windows XP as far as I can tell.

This error occurs on our Plone installation, and also upon a visit to
plone.org by affected browsers. We do not see this error in Firefox,
and
90% of our user-base uses IE.

I have seen reference to cache-fu and a lightbox.js as culprits, but
no
specific reference on how to fix.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

migrating 2.1.2 (or 2.1.4) to 2.5.1 (or 2.5.0)

(Windows 2003 server)
According to the instructions in the Plone user guide, I stopped plone,
backed up the site, and installed the upgrade to 2.5.1 on top of 2.1.2.

The error message I received was:

  File "C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Zope\lib\python\persistent\interfaces.py",
line
 19, in ?
    from zope.interface import Interface
ImportError: No module named zope.interface

I upgraded to 2.1.4 (which was successful) and then tried to upgrade to
2.5.1, but got the same result. I also got the same result when going from
2.1.4 to 2.5.0.

Does anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks.

New Theme set up using DIYPloneStyle

Plone 2.5
DIYPloneStyle-2.5-alpha.tar.gz

I've created a new Theme using DIYPloneStyle.  However, the new theme doesn't appear in the "Add/Remove Products" section of my plone instance.  has anyone experienced this?  Here are the steps I followed:

1) I untarred DIYPloneStyle-2.5-alpha.tar.gz
2) Updated the product under 'portal_setup'
3) ran python bin/generator.py --productname NCBTheme
4) restarted the zope instance Zope/bin/zopectl stop then start
5) updated the NCBTheme under 'portal_setup'

Any suggestions?

It has been answered several times, but I understand that it's hard to
search for these kinds of errors:

Upgrading to 2.5.2 RC1 will fix this issue:

http://plone.org/products/plone/releases/2.5.2

This only happens if you have Windows AND Office 2003 AND IE7
installed, which is why we didn't catch it in the testing of the 2.5.1
release, although we tested it extensively with IE7.

Also consult this document if you have visual display issues with the
CSS rendering in IE7:

http://plone.org/documentation/how-to/plone-ie7-updates

(these are fixed in the 2.5.2 RC release, to my knowledge)

Correction: I believe it happens if you have Office 2003 installed, not
necessarily IE7. The error stems from a new version of MSXML shipped with
that product combined with non-optimal version detection in sarissa.js)

Did you upgrade to the proper Zope version and follow the installation
hints in Five?
