Some context about the 3 new messages in atcontenttypes for Plone 4

Hi,

For atcontenttypes domain in Plone 4, you have 3 new messages.

New Items and Pages now uses label_summary/Summary instead of
label_description/Description.
but still use "help_description/A short summary of the content." in
plone domain. This string is marked as fuzzy because a final dot was
added.
You certainly want to translate by the same thing the word "summary"
in those two messages.

The two other messages are "in the past" and "in the future". You find
that when you add a Start date, relative date criterion in a
collection.

Re: Request for privileges on Bahasa Indonesia plone translation

Hi,

Do you have commitaccess on collective?
You can ask for it by creating a new ticket
https://dev.plone.org/plone.org/newticket
with Type=administrative request and Component=commitaccess.

In your case, you should commit your translation to
https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/PloneTranslations/branches/3.x
for Plone 3.3
and
https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/PloneTranslations/branches/trunk
for Plone 4

I will resynchronize your translation in trunk afterwards.

I can help you if needed.

"q" tag now preferred way for quotes in translated strings? (Also: Poedit bug)

I've noted that some source strings now use the html tag "q" for quotes, e.g.
in "sharing.pt": "Sharing for <q>${folder}</q>"
Before I start to change all those escaped double quotes in the Swedish
translations, I'd like to verify that this is "the new way" of doing it. (I
assume that the background is that IE finally supports the q tag?
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/qtag/)

Aside: Poedit 1.4.3 (Windows) fails to find strings containing q tags. For
example, an attempt to find "Sharing for" fails to find the string above.

Re: "q" tag now preferred way for quotes in translated strings? (Also: Poedit bug)

Obviously, the "q" tag cannot be used for the "portalMessage" boxes (those
yellow INFO/orange WARNING/red ERROR ones). Those messages would actually
display those tags verbatim.

New Plone 4 site creation and cs-CZ language code

Hi,

I'm testing Plone 4 and realized my native language is not selected by
default on the site creation page (@@plone-addsite).

If this page is accessed from Safari, preferred language is cs-cz
 >>> IUserPreferredLanguages(self.request).getPreferredLanguages()
['cs-cz']

If this page is accessed from Firefox, preferred language is cs and
everything works fine.
 >>> IUserPreferredLanguages(self.request).getPreferredLanguages()
['cs', 'en']

'cs' is language code, 'cz' is country code.

Is 'cs-cz' combination missing in plone.i18n.locales/languages.py,
_combinedlanguagelist ?

in-place translation on live plone site proof-of-concept

Brian McConnell and his team at Worldwide Lexicon have been developing
translation tools and translation servers for several years now. One
tool developed, Simple Localization System for PHP or SLSPHP, provides a
simple tool which allows a translator to perform in-place translation
treating the static text on webpage as changeable. I exploring the
possibility of "porting" this app to Zope/Plone as a proof-of-concept.

Going into detail there are two main parts which need ported or adapted
to work with Plone. First is the front end where SLSPHP provides a
javascript library for UI and custom marked-up html to indicate terms
which need to be translated. To do the html mark-up for Plone while not
requiring two sets of templates (one with and one without custom html) I
looking into adapting the TAL interpreter to add necessary mark-up when
it recognizes i18n attributes. Again this would be an add-on and used
only on translation servers.

The second part is taking the translated string and putting back into
the po files. SLSPHP uses a simple local text file for translated
strings. There are several ways this port could go but my initial
thoughts is to use pootle, tie into the translation server po files and
then onto the plone svn repository. Let me repeat that this is, at this
point, just an idea. I'm working on turning this into a
proof-of-concept. So if anyone else is interested in helping
port/develop please get in contact with me.

Ed
