Missing German Translation String for "we can send you a new one" (password)

At /login_form there‘s a missing translation in German (French, i.e.
works) for the string "we can send you a new
one" (label_click_here_to_retrieve).

The string is there in plone-de.po though it‘s marked as fuzzy.

Plone 3.3rc5
plone.app.locales 3.3.3

http://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/9413

The thing is, that it's not a missing translation, this string just
doesn't show up. Or am I missing something? Maybe someone can have a
look and find out what's wrong.

Re: Missing German Translation String for "we can send you a new one" (password)

I see.

I think the translation for
"If you have forgotten your password, we can send you a new one."
with
"Sollten Sie Ihr Passwort vergessen haben, fordern Sie ein neues
an."
is ok and not too fuzzy. I tried to remove the "fuzzy" comment and
restartet Zope but the string still didn't show up. Do I have to clear
some cache?

What do you think of the translation? What would be the process to
remove the fuzzy comment from the official version?

The real problem is that it is simple wrong. The password is not sent
to the user in a default configuration.

You will get a link to a page where you can set a new one.

So it would be better to extend the ticket in this sense.

Ok, I got it to work by
  1. delete var/instance/pts where all the .mo files are generated
  2. restart Zope twice to generate new .mo files and switch to the
correct language again

Agreed. The problem is that each time the original string is altered
the msg get the tag fuzzy. This is to inform the translators that they
should check the translation accordingly.

We never tried to "translate" the original strings because they are
often bad. We often had to write from scratch looking for what is
really happening.

I removed the fuzzy and checked it into svn.

Looking into the original messages would be a nice task for the tune-
ups.

Re: Missing German Translation String for "we can send you a new one" (password)

Hi,

In Plone 3.2, the message is:
label_click_here_to_retrieve

which is not quite correct, because indeed you receive a link to reset your password and not the original password

In Plone 3.3 it's now
label_click_here_to_retrieve
we can send you a new one

Well, it's not really a new one, only a link where you can choose a new one. I don't think it's confusing for the user.
It's better than in Plone 3.2 for sure.

Also I wouldn't say the translation is fuzzy if the original message is fuzzy or plain wrong.

Of course you're right that this should be fixed in the original template but as a user I wouldn't be too confused if it reads that I'll get a new password but they tell me how to set up a new one myself instead.

Portuguese Translation of Plone Manual

Hello all!

I am Felipe Roquette, I own a Brazilian company devoted to create
beautiful, functional and easy to use websites. This semester we decided
that we would focus our development towards Plone based websites.
I saw the Plone 3 User Manual at plone.org and I have some
questions:
        - is there a portuguese version of this manual?
        - is there someone translating this manual to portuguese?
        - am I aloud to contribute with a portuguese translation?
I read at [1] that "All content is copyright Plone Foundation
and the individual contributors.", is this a restricted copyright
license? Or is a copyright more like the GNU Free Documentation License
[2]?
I am asking all that because we need a portuguese version of
this manual for our clients/users and we are thinking to translate this
manual (only if it is possible of course). We also would like to make it
available at the plone.org.

Translation of collective.amberjack

Hello

I'm working on the Amberjack PLIP, if you have no idea what it is, please read the ticket:
https://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/9324

You can test the actual work like this:
svn co https://svn.plone.org/svn/plone/buildouts/plone-coredev
cd plone-coredev/branches/4.0
python bootstrap.py
bin/buildout -c plips/plip9324-amberjack.cfg

- create a Plone Site
- install Amberjack, Amberjack tour launcher, eventually Amberjack tour creator if want to create your own.
- Go to home
- click on manage portlets, edit the amberjack one to select a tour, save
- Go to home
- Launch the tour via the portlet

I need you to translate in your language the following file:
https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/collective.amberjack.metatour/trunk/collective/amberjack/metatour/locales/collective.amberjack.metatour.pot
https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/collective.amberjack.portlet/trunk/collective/amberjack/portlet/locales/collective.amberjack.portlet.pot

For example to create the german translation
cd src/collective.amberjack.portlet/collective/amberjack/portlet/locales
svn mkdir de
svn mkdir de/LC_MESSAGES
cp collective.amberjack.portlet.pot de/LC_MESSAGES/collective.amberjack.portlet.po
svn add de/LC_MESSAGES/collective.amberjack.portlet.po

edit de/LC_MESSAGES/collective.amberjack.portlet.po :
- remove the first line " --- PLEASE EDIT THE LINES BELOW CORRECTLY"
- replace PACKAGE by collective.amberjack.portlet, remove VERSION
- configure properly Language-Code, Language-Name, Language-Team
translate with poedit
svn ci -m"Added German translation"

If you have any questions, please ask. I can create the po file for you if needed.

The pot file for tours written by Sam Knox will come soon.

Thank you everyone
