New Latvian translation

Hi,

I've begun localizing Plone for Latvian (about 2/3rds through the main
plone-*.po file at the moment) and would like the SVN commit access.
My plone.org user handle is "reinis".

Regards,
Reinis Ivanovs

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same problem, and don't know how to proceed.

You've posted this question a month ago, without any response!

That doesn't sound very promising, does it?

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi, Geert,

You can manage the languages from the ZMI (it's portal_languages, I believe).

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi,

That's my point! I can't find any portal_languages in ZMI! Strange?

Documentation on this topic is rather poor for newbies, while it is stated
that one of the existing features of Plone is its outstanding multilingual
content management, sorry!

Geert

Gustavo,

If you want to help with the Spanish translation, I suggest you to contact
Alberto Serrano, who's been taking care of Plone translations to Spanish.
You can find the contact information in
http://plone.org/development/teams/i18n/existing-translations

A good way to help is by providing feedback and reporting errors, which is
what I've been doing lately.

Bests,
Emanuel

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi, Geert,

The original poster was talking about not finding it in the PMI or the
Plone Management Interface, but ZMI stands for Zope Management
Interface and is what you access through the /manage URI. You should
be able to find portal_languages in your Plone object there.

Reinis

i18dude improvements

Hi,

i18ndude is cool, but I'd like to use it with my eggs using several
distutils extensions,
instead of a console script. (like pylons does i think)

so i can call for example:

python setup.py i18n-merge

Furthermore, I think there's a missing feature that is going to be helpfull
for plone 3
(if it's not already beeing develop in some branch :) ):

compiling .mo files found in the egg. (This can be done for example with
po_lib).

Since we need to implement them this week, i can work over a i18ndude
branch to propose
a patch to add these features if you think they worth it,

Regards

Tarek

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi Reinis,

Good morning, and thanks for paying attention to my problem!

Sorry, but I still don't get it. When I enter the following URL:
http://localhost/manage I get the ZMI with a lot of portal_* entries in the
Root Folder on the leftmost list, but NOT any portal_languages!

By the way I use Plone 3.0.3 (Windows XP platform) in combination with
LinguaPlone2.0!

Regards,
Geert

Re: How to make Multi-language in Plone 3.0

Hi Reinis,

Thanks for being patient with another novice user like myself! I finally
found postal_languages in the Content tab of the rightmost pane of ZMI,
which shows the root! I remained focusing on the leftmost pane, sorry!

I selected Dutch and English and the respective country flags appeared at
the right-side of the Plone pages opposite the breadcrumb!

Okay, I'll continue testing it all!

Regards,
Geert
