Volunteering to assist with Polish translation

Hi,

I'd like to get commit access to PloneTranslations svn. I asked for that
once (about two months ago), but had no response. Is it good place to ask
for that, or should I rather use Trac? I used to saw such requests here.

I'm polish webdeveloper, with about 2 years Plone experience. I've been
working with Radosław Stachowiak on 2.1 polish translation, and now on 3.0.
It would be easier for us to work, if I have svn commit rights too.

Right now I have some Kupu translations (about 70%), so I could add them.

My plone.org account is 'pfurman'.

sincerely

plone in indigenous language from Chiapas, Mexico

We are going to use plone for a tri-lingual portal in Spanish, Tzotzil and
Tzetzal; however, there is no code defined for them in the ISO 369-2, only
in the ISO 369-3 alpha (ISO 639-3: tzc, ISO 639-3: tzu, ISO 639-3: tzb and
ISO 639-3: tzh). How do we handle that in order to be able to identify a
document localization?

What is the best or recommended tool for translating plone from Spanish or
English to those Mayan languages?

Thanks.

Language Problem with partly multilingual site

Hello,
my site uses plone 2.5.2, has PloneLanguageTool and LinguaPlone installed and is currently set up for four languages.
However, it is only partly multilingual, a lot of pages only exist in English. These pages are marked language-neutral,
so that they can be found and read by all users (all our users speak English). The problem can be found in articles
that exist in more than one language (thus not being neutral), but not in all four. Swedish is one of the languages
that only few items exist in, however, quite some pages exist in German and English. Swedish users don't even
know of these pages as they are not shown in the navigation, in folders, in smart folders, in the news
portlet, etc...
I read in the mailing list, that fallback only works for neutral items. Right now I only see options, that are
not very elegant,
but time-consuming and actually quite bad:
I could translate all articles that exist in translations into all languages of my site (if I spoke all
languages...) -> bad option
I could erase the 2 languages that only few items exist in, making my site only bilingual -> not the best option
I could technically "translate" all non-neutral items to the missing languages, but only copy the English
text -> bad option

Is there no other way to make Swedish users see articles who don't exist in Swedish,
but are not neutral either (because they exist in English and German) in English?
Of course I only translated some important articles from English to German,
now Swedish users don't know about the important articles as they are not displayed for them.

I hope you could understand my problem.
Maybe there is an option I don't know about.
Thanks to everyone replying,

Benjamin

Good luck ;-) LinguaPlone has never catered to this use case .. it
comes up every few months :-/

Hi Cinemator.

Did you take a look at:

http://plone.org/products/bluelingualink/?searchterm=None

It sounds as though it is trying to solve the problem you have.

I don't fully understand what it does, but I found it and thought it might
help you.

Cheers,

Z :)

Well, it inserts a link to existing translations which is a good option
for sites where only few articles do not exist in all site languages,
in our case only relatively few articles do exist in several languages,
so it's not what I'm looking for, Thanks, nevertheless.

I had almost given up when I got a strange idea how to solve the
problem somehow, but I've no idea if and how it can be put into practice:

If I could add a translation (of a page, RichDocument, News, Event) but
the translation only is an automatically activated link, that'd do it.
Swedish users who now can only see swedish and neutral items and are missing
all articles that exist only in German and English would no longer miss these
articles but see them in English without switching their Browser language to English.

But how can I
- create a page or RichDocument that only contains an automatically activated internal link - or alternatively
- add a translation to an item (page e.g.) and the translation is another item type (link e.g.)

If anyone has an idea on this or another approach to my language problem,
I'll be glad to know.

If not I'll probably have to disable 2 of my 4 site languages
so that all items are either neutral or exist in all enabled languages.

Loosing cgi parameters when switching languages with PloneLanguageTool

Hello,

I am upgrading my web site to zope 2.10.4 and plone 3.0.2

In my site, cgi parameters are much used and they are lost when changing the language with the flags when switchLanguage is invoked.

The URL invoking switchLanguage seems to be built by :

Plone-3.0.2/zinstance/lib/python/plone/app/i18n/locales/browser/languageselector.pt

while switchLanguage is located in :

Plone-3.0.2/zinstance/Products/PloneLanguageTool/skins/LanguageTool/

Is there a mean to avoid loosing cgi parameters ?

Thanks for your help
