Tokens missing in plone-sv.po: what to do?

I'm about to check in my first (very tentative) additions/corrections to the
Swedish translation of plone.pot. However, when testing it I'm noting that
several ui strings have no corresponding tokens in my "plone-sv.po" (as in
the 3.0 bundle in svn). For example, I have no possibility to translate the
word "History" on the last content view tab.

Please advice.

Not all translations are in the plone-sv.po file. We have eight more
*-sv.po files that all need to be translated in order to get a fully
translated UI.

The history tab for example is a feature that originates from
CMFEditions and thus is found in cmfeditions-sv.po.

There are nevertheless still some UI strings not found in any of the po
files. If you find one of these please first try to find out if there is
already a ticket about it
(http://dev.plone.org/plone/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&component=Internationalization&order=priority)
and otherwise open a new ticket (http://dev.plone.org/plone/).

Most of the time missing strings are due to missing i18n markup in the
source code itself, so patches fixing this are most welcome. As I do the
extraction manually and not on every day, there might be sometimes a
very small amount of strings already in the source code, but not yet in
the translation files.

Re: Tokens missing in plone-sv.po: what to do?

So, Hanno and others...

I've now spent two whole days with the Swedish translation. Almost all
tokens (except Kupu) are now more or less roughly translated, and I've
checked in all nine .po files. I'll be able to spend more time with this the
next week. Fellow Swedes: PLEASE REVIEW.

Please bear with me, if I've not yet grokked how this procedure should be
conducted. It's my debut as amateur translator.

Hurray!!! Big kudos to you :)

If I sounded harsh in any way, please forgive me. I just tried to give
you an explanation about the problem you encountered. If I misunderstood
you again, please ignore me ;)

Questions are obviously always welcome :) And especially from someone
new to the whole translation thing. We might fail to see some problems,
as we are used to them for a long time now or don't realize that some
important documentation is missing.

This Norwegian will give it a go, at least. ;)

Welcome! Happy to see the Swedish translation updated!

Translate static-text-portlets

Hi everybody,
I am using static-text portlets and would like to translate them into a second
language. I followed the how-to of Martin Aspelli
(http://plone.org/documentation/how-to/editable-static-text-portlets). The
portlets get their content from a file called e.g. 'info' in a folder called
'portlets' inside Plone. So I tried to translate the 'portlets' folder and
the containing documents (e.g. info). I kept the title and id of the
documents and only changed the content (because the title/id is used by the
portlets to find the appropriate document with content). I thought, Plone
would use these translations if I switch the language, but it didn't work. I
found a similar problem in the archive, but this belongs to Plone 2.1.
I am using Plone 2.5.2 and LinguaPlone 0.9.
Does anyone has solved this problem or know how to solve it?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,

Moritz

Not harsh at all, Hanno. (And I'm not very easily offended, for that
matter... )

I'm immensely impressed by the i18n efforts in the Plone project. I doubt
that quite few commercial tools are blissed with such a powerful
infrastructure.

one svn commit access please

Hi,

I'm polish webdeveloper, with about 2 years Plone experience. I've been
working with Radosław Stachowiak on 2.1 polish translation, and now on 3.0
(updated yesterday). For now, I've been sending my translations to Radosław,
and he was commiting them. It would be easier for us to work, if I have svn
commit rights too. So if you don't mind please give me such access.

My plone.org account is 'pfurman'.

sincerely
