Translators desired for Plone4ArtistsCalendar.

I've recently updated the translations for Plone4ArtistsCalendar, or
rather for dateable.chronos, which is the UI for P4ACal. It currently
supports a quite healthy eleven different languages.

The languages that currently are fully translated are English, French,
Swedish (thanks to me), Norwegian (thanks to Mats Tande), German
(thanks to Andreas Kaiser), Polish (thanks to Magdalena Regebro),
Danish (Alexander Pilz) adn Italian (Massimo Azzolini).

Mostly translated is Spanish, Brazilian Portugese and Romanian.  This
is because I have based the translations on the translations done for
the calendar I and Martijn Faassen developed for Nuxeo a couple of
years ago, as the vocabuary is similar. But of course, not all words
in P4A were actually in the CPS calendar, so most of these languages
are a bit half-translated. These three just miss a couple of words.
People fluent in these languages that want to check through and
complete these translations would be very appreciated.

Also, any other language you feel like translating the calendar into
are most welcome! There are only 36 messages (mostly single words) to
translate, so the whole effort is only 10-15 minutes. I've added
documentation on how to do this.
https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/dateable/trunk/src/dateable.chronos/doc/I18N.txt

Basically, take one of the existing language files (or the template)
translate all the "msgstr" lines, and send it to me. I'll do the rest!

Thanks in advance!

plone.app.locales 3.3.2 released

Hi everyone,

I did a new release of plone.app.locales 3.3.2. It will be shipped
with Plone 3.3rc4.

And as usual this version is compatible with Plone 3.2.
If you want to use this new version in Plone 3.2.2, you can pin it in
your buildout like this:
[versions]
plone.app.locales = 3.3.2

Recipe for overriding translations

Hi,

I created a buildout recipe for overriding translations:
http://pypi.python.org/pypi/collective.recipe.i18noverrides

It creates an i18n directory within one or more zope 2 instances in
your buildout. It copies some .po files to those directories. The
translations in those .po files will override any other translations.
This only works for overriding i18n directories, not for locales.

See that pypi page for details, but if your buildout.cfg has two zope
instances (two zeo clients most likely) the configuration can be
something like this:

[buildout]
parts = instance1 instance2 i18noverrides
...

[i18noverrides]
recipe = collective.recipe.i18noverrides
source = ${buildout:directory}/translations
destinations =
    ${instance1:location}
    ${instance2:location}

Create a translations directory in your buildout and put some po files
in it. Run bin/buildout and the recipe will create an i18n directory
in each of the instances and copy those po files there. Restart the
instances and those translations will be used.

Possible Brand Misleading from Inappropriate zh Translation

I find a recently added PO file, locales/zh/LC_MESSAGES/plonefrontpage.po, submitted by adam139.
According to revision 87538, the message "Welcome to Plone" is translated to Simplified Chinese with meaning "Welcome to Using Product by 315ok.org", that can cause brand misleading.
I hope this issue could be quickly solved by another zh-CN PO maintainer submitting updated translation.

As a zh-TW PO maintainer, for several reasons, I will not step too much in this issue for the time being.

Cheers,
/marr/

Clarification on new plone i18n system

Hola,

Can I please just get a clarification on recommended/best practice for
plone translations?

In particular, I am about to start getting a plone product (plumi.org)
translated, and we are in the process of moving from plone 2.5 to
plone 3.3 (well, plone 3.x I guess)

In particular, we are ditching the old installation method and using
the egg/buildout installation method for plumi.

So, we have:

plumi.app
plumi.content
plumi.skin

in our trunk

I am unsure as to whether it is correct to then create

plumi.*.locales
or
plumi.*.i18n

as the root folder to hold the pot/po files in our src?

cheers
L.

Link to What's New

I find the link, http://plone.org/documentation/whatsnew/3.1, in the locales/plonefrontpage.pot, is missing.
How should we fix this?

Microsoft Language Portal - Online Terminology and Glossary Search

Hello i18n fellows,

An online tool that I've found pretty useful:

     http://www.microsoft.com/language/en/us/search.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/language/en/us/search.mspx

Whatever one thinks about Microsoft - their terminology is what many Plone
users are familiar with...

Plone 3.3rc3 includes plone.app.locales 3.3.1

Hi,

I made a release of plone.app.locales 3.3.1 2009-05-17 11:00.
This version is included in Plone 3.3rc3.
Latest commits for Turkish, Basque and Japanese are not included in
this release.

I'll do a new release of plone.app.locales in two weeks before Plone 3.3-final.

You have less than two weeks for a final review of your translation,
if there is not another release candidate of course. ;-)

Cheers
