 Dear Friend, <http://www.ebuppies.com>

 eBuppies.com (www.ebuppies.com <http://www.ebuppies.com/signup.php>
) is a new online dating site that is dedicated to providing singles
from all over with the opportunity to connect with other buppy singles
in their local area or anywhere of their choice.

More and more buppy singles are going online to connect with others
because going out week after week to nightclubs and bars can be
tiresome, as well as expensive. eBuppies.com makes dating easy by
hosting hundreds of profiles of different singles looking for love.
Buppies can join on a monthly basis for less than they would probably
pay for one night at a nightclub or bar.

Buppies who are looking for love, romance or just friendship now have
a unique resource that can help them discover their future soul mate:
eBuppies.com.

Although high technology drives eBuppies.com, the online dating site
is simple and easy for buppies to navigate. Buppies can register,
browse, search and contact other singles

at no charge. There is also no charge for buppies to upload a photo

Plone4ArtistsCalendar 2.0a1 release

Just before the Plone Conference, to make it easier to test, I
released Plone4ArtistsCalendar 2.0a2 (including Dateable 0.4.0). That
it is an alpha should not deter you from using it, several sites are,
and it's actually quite stable. It is an alpha, because it misses some
basic features. Most importantly there is no migration from
Plone4ArtistsCalendar 1.1 yet. Secondly, the ical support is flakey,
and doesn't support recurring events. The recurring event support is
very basic, still, the user interface for setting to and from dates
and recurring rules needs a complete overhaul, and we need to make a
calendar portlet that support recurring events as well. If you feel
like doing any of this, please tell us, because we deserately need
more people helping out on the calendaring project!

That said, 2.0a2 has a very pretty user interface, which has had many
improvements since 2.0a1, mostly thanks to claytron and lucielejard.
Thanks!!

Installing it for testing is easy:

   1. Take (or make) a Plone buildout (3.0 or 3.1).
   2. Add p4a.plonecalendar to the list of eggs and the zcml =
statement and (re)run buildout.
   3. Start Plone, and install Plone4ArtistsCalendar in the quickinstaller.

Done! All your events now have recurrence support, and you can enable
the Calendar subtype on a folder to get calendar views. Please test,
and add bugs to the new Cluemapper tracker. Have fun!

p4aC/Dateable

Greetings!

Might I get an update on the status of Dateable/p4aC? I know lots of
great work got done at the BosCal sprint (thanks gang!), but in the end
did we end up with a release, even beta?

Lemme frame the question better: I have two folks asking about
calendaring-related products, and I don't know whether to point them to
p4aC or Dateable.

Maybe what I mean is, where is the best place to go for information on
this stack? I am happy to maintain pages on plone.org if folks'll feed
me the relevant information.

Thanks in advance!

Calendaring Sprint

Greetings!

I can't make any concrete promises or give any specifics yet, but I'm
pretty sure that there'll be a Calendaring-related sprint in the future.

As my next contract ramps up, we are definitely going to throw some
development time/energy/money behind the p4aC/Dateable stack. :)

Soooo, this is just an exploratory email to see what kind of interest
there might be in attending such an event. If I have any say in the
matter, we'll try to have it in an interesting, unique, focused, and
scenic location. More than likely it'll be in Northern California,
although there is a possibility of Austin, TX. I'm thinking of
something up in Napa Valley.

Like I said, nothing set in stone. As I know more, I'll start making
more formal announcements on plone-dev, sprints@, and plone.org

Boston Calendar sprint task planning.

Hi all!

The boscal sprint starts tomorrow. (I'll arrive tomorrow evening).

In preparation for the sprint I've made a page with the tasks I'm
aware of, and the knowledge needed (IMO) to fix it. Feel free to add
tasks to change the knowledge requirements if you don't agree.

http://www.openplans.org/projects/boscal/task-planning

If you want to work on it, you can add your name to the task, even if
you are sprinting remotely, add your name there. Many of this tasks
can well be done remotely without any problems!

ANN: Recurring events support and Plone calendaring sprint in Boston - Apr. 28-May 4

Would you like to be able to add an event to your Plone site that
occurs more than once and be able to tell Plone that the event is
recurring? Now is your chance to help make this happen by pledging
your support to the "recurring events in Plone" pledge drive.

     Pledge your support!
http://micropledge.com/projects/plone-recurring-events

We are trying to raise $5,000 to fund these efforts, and any amount
helps to bring us a step closer to realizing this goal. Help make
Plone better by donating, even a small amount really goes a long way!

Lennart Regebro has been hard at work laying the foundation for
recurring events in Plone, and has most of the pieces in place. What's
remaining is integrating this work into the Plone UI, writing more
tests and polishing up the product for general public use. Lennart has
put forward his proposed roadmap for implementing recurring events in
the Plone Improvement Proposal (PLIP) #158.
http://plone.org/products/plone/roadmap/158

Lennart is a long-time expert in Zope, and has extensive experience
building calendaring solutions for Zope/Plone. If Lennart can't get
this working, then nobody can! Read about Lennart's adventures in
calendaring on his blog.
http://regebro.wordpress.com/category/calendaring/

We are hosting a Plone calendaring sprint in Boston
(http://www.openplans.org/projects/boscal/) at the end of this month
(Apr. 28-May 4) and we are currently seeking sponsors who can help
fund this sprint. Lennart has been invited as well as other key
developers. We expect to complete the recurring events support at the
sprint but we need funding in order to cover the transportation costs
of these key persons.

We'd like to invite your company/organization to become a Platinum
($3,000), Gold ($2,000), Silver ($1,000) or Bronze ($500) sponsor. All
sponsors will be featured on the sprint website, and the company's
name and logo will be printed in all sprint materials.

Your donation goes directly to help a sprinter with their attendance
expenses. You can also sponsor to cover the food costs associated with
the sprint. Any amount helps, so please visit the sponsor page to make
your donation:

     Sponsor the sprint! http://openplans.org/projects/boscal/sponsor

We also plan on making videos and podcasts about the sprint activities
to be posted on http://plone.tv, and your company will be mentioned as
a sponsor of the sprint. This is a great way to get more visibility in
the community and show your support for Plone.

And if you would like to attend the sprint, there is still space
available. Please sign up on the participants page, also if you would
like to sprint remotely.
http://www.openplans.org/projects/boscal/participants

thanks!
Nate

Calendaring 0.4.0 with Plone 3.0.6 question

Hello,

I am trying out Calendaring 0.4.0 on Plone 3.0.6, OSX.

It installs without error, and I can publish from iCal to Plone with
events showing up nicely, but I don't see a 'Calendar' object in my list
of types to install?

Have I missed a step somewhere along the way?

Thanks

export an RSS of events to any iCalendar application (as google calendar)

I was searching for a simple way to publish and distribute my future events
in my Plone site towards calendaring applications - in primis google
calendar - so I wrote this little script to merge all ics of future events
into a single ics calendar:
http://daniele.modena1.it/code/zope-plone/rss2ics.py.txt/view

You can test it against the plone.org site, running:
python rss2ics.py plone.org/events/community/upcoming-events/RSS
You obtain a iCalendar file that is the merge of all events contained in the
RSS.
The result for the plone community RSS imported inside google calendar is
here:
this is the result imported into google calendar:
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=lb1se7ll88ff68l94730ue0oppevctiq%40import.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe/Rome

This is not elegant, I know: but i needed just a quick dirty script. I know
that a function to merge ics of events _from_plone_ would be far more
interesting.

bye,

Chip in for Dateable

When I released Dateable 0.1.0 last week there was much cheering and
several people tried to convince me to go to Snow Sprint and work on
it there. But I have set my self a limit of four conferences and
sprints per year, and my four conferences and sprints are already
chosen and booked in, and sorry, the Snow sprint is not on the list.

At the same time, there is quite evidently a lot of need of a good
calendaring solution for Plone. However, this doesn't come cheap, and
very few companies need the functionality so badly that they are
willing to pay for all of it. That means that this is going forward
quite slowly.

So, as an experiment, I've decided to ask for funding to implement the
most desired functionalities. I've set up a fundraiser on Chipin.com,
to see if the Plone community is willing to shake together the money.
And yes, if this works, more calendaring fundraisers will come.

Fundraiser one: Dateable 0.2.0

Dateable 0.2.0 would include Plone 3.0 support, a Javascript
navigation, and some cleanup and reorganisation that is needed. $990.

If there is specific calendaring functionality you desire add a
comment on my blog:
http://regebro.wordpress.com/2007/12/16/chip-in-for-plone-calendaring/
I will start a fundraiser for the functionality most asked for.
