Edit Thumbnail not working in Edit Media?

Hi, seeking some advice.

When editing images in the Media Library, I can't seem to edit/crop the Thumbnails. Sometimes it seems to
work, but I'd say 99% of the time it doesn't do anything at all. I'm also uncertain what's best practice, as
the Save button is greyed out (is that right?) so I'm assuming you just need to use the Update Media button?

I've looked through Track and see there are several media related problems, but nothing appears specific
to editing thumbnails?

I'm using WordPress 3.2.1 and have the same problems with Chrome and Safari on the Mac. Interesting I did
have similar problems on 3.1, but I'd say a 50% success rate!

Original images are 600x450 pixels, thumbnails are set to 150x150 pixels with "Crop thumbnail to exact
dimensions..." ticked.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I'm amazed about this. 

I have done some tests and I can crop an image only if width or height (or both) is bigger than 150px (151+).
Weird.

My mistake. 

You cannot crop anything less than your automatic cropped size. 
I have changed my thumbnail size to 70x70 and now I can crop if any of the dimensions is 70+

It's a logical way to work, but not so easy to see.

OK, figured it out - although have to say I've be using Photoshop and image editors for a long time and think
perhaps Editor needs slightly better notes?

Perhaps:

Thumbnail Settings (help)
The thumbnail image can be cropped differently. For example it can be square or contain only a portion of the
original image to showcase it better. Here you can select whether to apply changes to all image sizes or
make the thumbnail different. After making your selection, click the Crop button [crop icon], then click Save.

I wrongly assumed the crop icon was used in a similar way to say Photoshop, i.e. you clicked it, made you
selection and then clicked Save. Hadn't realised you made your selection and then clicked Crop - seems
back to front to me, or perhaps I've been using Photoshop for too long :-)

It's not just you. I had to explain to almost all of my clients how to crop because they had the same problem as
you :)

But I must say that, if you think in UX, select and then crop is more easy and intuitive than "Select that you
want to crop -> select -> then crop". As you say, we have in mind our Photoshop culture :)
