Wt used to make a RESTful API?

I'm in the process of planning a site and a RESTful API. I haven't used Wt as much as I would like to, so I don't its full capabilities yet, but I wanted to know if anyone has developed a RESTful API with it. If so was it difficult or pretty easy? I want to use Wt for as much of the site and RESTful API as possible.

Thanks,
Alan

[BUG?] Grid layout manager issue

Hi all,

every now and then we try to perform the "big switch" from a pre-3.2.2
tree to the most recent available version.

I've recently come across the wt-3.3.0 release and tried once more to
rebuild plenty of wt applications that our project is comprised of to
evaluate the impact of a switch.

Well, regretfully our full-of-grid-layout-managers interfaces behave
quite badly.

One of the weirdest problems happened with a very simple widget
displacement within a two tabs tabmanager. I attach here the source tree
ready to be built from the build directory (cmake ../ && make).

In order to trigger the problem, do this steps:

- Click on "Container2" tab
- Click on "Container1" tab
- Click again on "Container2" tab

At that point everything vanishes. If I comment the last code line (the
setMaximumSize directive), everything behaves properly.

I did not open an issue on the bug tracking system only because I'd
make sure this is really a bug and not a bad usage from my side.

Could someone please shed a bit of light on this?

Thanks a lot!

Wt WebGL Game Engine

So I've been looking at a few HTML5/WebGL game engines lately. Then I remembered that Wt has WebGL support, and I noticed sound as well. Besides needing a few extra features like physics, has anyone thought of using Wt to make a WebGL game? I would rather use Wt to do this than raw JS plus Wt would give me more control over server side communication.

The payment system could probably be expanded to allow for micro transactions as well.

Wt In Saas, Deploying an Update, Automatic Testing

Hello,

I've a couple of questions.

1. Is Wt convenient for internet Saas applications? On what load (Ex. how many active users, concurrent requests) it should keep working reasonably? Any known limits?

2. When a new version of my application comes, how can it be deployed without interrupting the active users (replace myapp.wt with its new version). I am planning to use built in http(s) server. Is it possible to update on background?

3. If I add a new attribute to a class whose objects are stored in database using Wt::Dbo, Is it possible to apply a patch to database. I mean, is there a class like a database-patcher which checks my new models and apply differences to database.

4. Does anyone use an automatic testing suite effectively. Any recommendations?

Thanks a lot,
Burak

Newbie questions from Qt developer

Hello,

I've some questions about Wt which they concern me although Wt has great features by comparing to other web kits:
  1. As I know Wt API inspired from Qt why Wt doesn't join to qt-project.org or at least collaborate with them?
  2. Is there any plan to create GUI designer OR at least modify existing GUI designer (I found Qt designer quite well)?
  3. Why Wt doesn't use LGPL or BSD like most open source toolkits?
  4. Is there any ability to use Wt with qmake instead of CMake?
  5. Does Wt support layout direction (RightToLeft/LeftToRight) for all widgets?
  6. How much is the difficult in case I used QtCreator as IDE for Wt (I'm Linux developer)?
  7. Does Wt has style engine just like Qt or I have to create the styles in similar way to web based toolkits?
  8. I've already Qt based libraries how much is the difficult to use them in Wt? do they need special dealing or just like usual c++ libraries?
  9. Does Wt has or support any multi-language engine just like Qt translation or gettext?

Thanks for help in advanced :-)

How to set pages on WTableView?

Hi,

I used the example in gallery:

http://www.webtoolkit.eu/widgets/trees-tables/mvc-table-views

which maps a “csv” file to a table.

I was wondering how to set the page size? Right now it is only ONE page. And also I see something like pageCount(), currentPage() functions in tableview, but  couldn’t find how to set a page size(so that the data is split into multiple pages)?

Thanks a lot,

Yuling

Re: [Help] Request for project collaborators...

Thank you for the suggestions Jeff! I am indeed planning to use some
of the code from Wt examples, including the Planner.

Kind regards,

WTemplate is missing bound widgets

I'm trying to use WTemplate so that I can use CSS rather than tables for layout. The example below  is a simple attempt to use WTemplate based on sample code in the WTemplate docs, but the resulting web page only shows the template name. Are there examples of WTemplate I can refer to? Am I missing a step to make the bound widgets visible? I've searched the Wt examples, and searched the internet for "Wt" "WTemplate" and didn't really find anything other than recommendations to use CSS rather than layout tools.

/*constructor*/ TestApp(const Wt::WEnvironment& env):Wt::WApplication(env)
{

        root()->addWidget( new WText( "one"));

        WTemplate * wtmplate = new WTemplate("Template");
        wtmplate->bindWidget( "Two:", new WText( "two"));
        wtmplate->bindWidget( "Three:", new WText( "three"));

        root()->addWidget( wtmplate ); // html has: <div id="ommuiys">Template</div> but no bound widgets.

        root()->addWidget( new WText( "four"));

        // Browser shows:
        //   one
        //   Template
        //   four

 }

Visual Studio 2010 crashes when readin project wt.sln

Hi,

I would like to use wt for the VSCP project (http://www.vscp.org) and is
trying to build the libraries for windows on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.
Cmake generate the project fine but when I try to load wt.sln in visual
studio it crashes at subproject 14 of 57 serverpush.wt.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what can cause this? Workaround?

Cheers
/Ake

How to create a vertical scrollbar that resize with the window ?

I'm writing a Wt application (3.3.0) that needs to run on different size displays.  On smaller displays, I'd like to use scrollbars so my users can see all of the window content.

If I don't call WScrollArea::setHeight(), the vertical scrollbar doesn't work property - I can't scroll far enough to see all my content.

However, if I do call WScrollArea::setHeight(), the "active" area, where my content is displayed, never grows, even if I increase the size of the window.

I tried using the layoutSizeChanged() callback to set the height of the scrollbar.  However, although the reported width changes while I'm resizing the window, the reported height always stays the same.

I've seen this behavior with Firefox 20, Safari 6.04, and Chrome Version 26.0.1410.65

Any ideas on how to have a working vertical scrollbar that resizes as the window resizes?
