Re: Why login for comments?

I dont know whether there's any progress on the comment issue, but
signup on ss.org has been disabled after a wave of spam.

Moving from SnipSnap to other CMS. Possible?

Hi all,
is it possible to use the XML-Export File or the MySQL Database Dump
to move to other CMS? Is there maybe some way to get the content of a
given SnipSnap Installation into a (say) MovableType Installation? Or
maybe just the Blog Entries...

Where can I find Informations about the Structure of the XML-File and
the Database Format? Has anyone tried something like this?

I realize it´s quite odd to ask this kind of Questions on a SnipSnap
Users List, but I could not find any Information about this Topic on
the Net. Any Pointers are welcome.

Greetings,

Re: Moving from SnipSnap to other CMS. Possible?

I'm also interested in this, but from another angle - it looks like my
hosting company is going under, so I want to extract my blog entries
from Snipsnap before they disappear.

Exporting Blog Contents?

It looks likely that the ISP where I'm hosting my Snipsnap blog is going
to disappear. Is there an easy way to archive the blog content so that
I'll be able to recreate it when I find another hosting company and
reinstal Snipsnap?

Thanks,

julian

Re: Exporting Blog Contents?

You should be able to go into the setup (if you are admin on your
snipsnap) and simply dump the whole snip space including users and
all other data. A problem might be if you have a large space, then
the browser might choke on the download. If you have a small space
simply select download and dump the snips and users. Then use save as
from your web browser and store it as myblog.snip or myblog.xml. The
xml structure is simple, there are users first with all infos
(passwords are sha1 hashes) and then the snips with all attachments
and revisions.
