Re: [Sigia-l] 9JOB] Interactive Developer, Madison, WI - Relo OK

"full time, on-site, salaried position located in Madison, WI paying $50,000 to $60,000 + benefits. "

Really? Wow. and wow. That seems unbelievably low for a senior person...by about 50% low (even, yes, for
Madison, WI). But that's just my impression, not a data-driven statement.

[Sigia-l] IA/UX Resource Needed

Xperience Interactive is looking for a Jr. to Mid-level IA/UX hero.

We're a startup so the pay is not phenomenal ($40 - $50/hr), but you'll have
flexibility and of course more fun than you would have in a cubicle! If
you're looking to stretch your wings, you'll have the opportunity. You'll be
working with me and I'd like to think I've learned something over the past
15 years doing user experience design that I can share with you to help you
in your career. Here's what we're looking for:

1) Passion for UX. Yeah, we want you to be excited about it. We are.
2) Some experience. Be able to show some deliverables from a project. Send
the usual suspects (PDFs are fine). If you're not sure what they are, then
you might be too junior for this.
3) Technical writing sample. Show a part of a functional spec. you helped
author
4) Need you to be somewhat local. We're in Santa Monica, CA and would need
you in the office 3 days a week
5) Bonus: Experience with developing UX for Enterprise/Intranet environments
is big plus, but not required
6) Extra Bonus: Experience working with/for interactive agencies also a
plus, but not required
7)Extra Extra Bonus: Omnigraffle is your choice for wireframe development.
If not, please convince me why it isn't.

This has the opportunity to turn into a full time position as well.

[Sigia-l] How did you follow the UK's General Election online?

[I miss the banter and discussion on this list. Job and event postings
with vacation messages. Bleh.]

How have you been keeping up-to-date with the UK's General Election?

On voting day, I discovered the BBC's live coverage page:

  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/liveevent/

It has a magically-updating micro-blog and an embedded video
of BBC news.

I also had http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/
open in a second window.

I hadn't used a live twitter follower before but I found and used
Twitterfall to follow the #ge2010 hashtag. The queue built up to
several hundred messages with 10 seconds towards the end.

Yesterday, I started watching BBC news on TV around 5pm and had
a lap-top which had the BBC's liveevent page and Twitterfall
again to follow #ge2010 and #ukelection - I got motion sickness
from watching Twitterfall, though!

Of course, I also poked into Facebook and my own Twitter feed now
and then.

I think that the BBC's real-time election updates were/are
fantastic.

[Sigia-l] Smart Draw

Hi,

I have a client who is using SmartDraw, which I haven't used (I'm still a
Visio stalwart, with occasional forays into Axure). I'm trying to decide if
it's worth it to spend time/money so that we can be on the same platform or
if we should just continue to work in our separate universes (which is
mostly working). For those of you who use SmartDraw, I'd love some
pros/cons. Checked the sig-IA archives but didn't come up with a rich vein
on the topic. (This message is cross posted to IAI and SIG-IA for breadth.)

Thanks!
