As for my opinion, It all depends on the mind-set of the user. You have to understand, how they would be looking for the tomato. Understand, how the user classify's the tomato. For example in my country (Singapore) , If you tell someone to go get a tomatoes. They will most often go the vegetables section, becoz, of various factors. 1) We have separate fruits stores, that sell fruits, (apples, pears ,grapes, pineapples, etc) and tomatoes are never found in fruit stalls. 2) If you go the Wet-Markets, the vegetable stalls, are the ones selling tomatoes. 3) If you go to a super-market, Tomatoes are never found in the fruit section. 4) Tomatoes are rarely(Can't say never as there is always small % who do) eaten by themselves as a fruit like apples,oranges,banana's etc. They are always used in cooking various dishes. 5) Traditionally, most people keep the tomatoes in their refrigerator in the vegetables section and not the fruits area. ( Always a small % of error) 6) You learn all this concepts from young from your parents, living in this culture and experiencing them, and it is forever in your mind. So, if I was to design a store in here selling tomatoes, I would put it in the vegetable section.(Continue reading)
