OmniWeb sale, 5.5.1 now available.

Hi Everyone!

The final version of OmniWeb 5.5.1 is now available. Here are the
changes from beta 1:

     - Removed the borders on the OmniWeb error pages to avoid an
       incompletely implemented CSS3 feature.
     - Cherry picked apple revision 16881 which fixes a
crasher when viewing charts at finance.yahoo.com.
     - Fixed a hang caused by an exception being raises repeatedly when
checking for search fields on the page.
     - Fixed a crash when submitting form data, while HTTP Logging was
       enabled.

You can download here: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/
download/

In addition to 5.5.1 being released we're also putting on an OmniWeb
sale! Now through the end of november you can purchase OmniWeb from
our store for just $9.95, there's even a discounted family pack
option. So if you've been watching your demo run out in-between
releases now might be the right time to pick a license up.

Check out the Omni Mouth (<http://blog.omnigroup.com/>) for more
information.

Thanks!

Tab Setting

Hi,

I have Omniweb 5.5 (v607) on a MacBook Pro (i.e. Intel), and have run
into the following peculiarity.

When I click on the Tab drawer icon, the "Tab" drawer opens on the
right of the main window, even though in the the "Tabs and Windows"
part of the Preferences I have selected the "Left" setting. Also if I
quit with the Tab drawer open, and then restart the Tab drawer is
closed not open (I thought this setting was preserved on another
computer of mine that has Omniweb).

If I click on the "Left" setting in the Preferences (Tabs and
Windows), then click on the tab drawer icon to close the drawer, and
then click again on the tab drawer, it will then open on the left.
But when I quit, and click on the tab drawer icon again, I get the
tab drawer on the RIGHT.

Any advice on how to get Omniweb to open the tab drawer on the left
and maintain this setting would be appreciated. Perhaps the
preferences file is corrupted, but I would hate to delete because I
have a bunch of bookmarks etc.

Thanks.

John

Re: Tab Setting

Have you taken a snapshot of your Workspace? If so, the orientation
of the tab drawer is one of the attributes that is preserved. Force
the drawer to open on the left and take a new snapshot, or nuke your
Workspace and create a new one.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Is crazy broken in 5.5.1 for me. Am I wrong to assume this is a known bug?

Suppress one of several CSS at NYTimes.com?

I find Omni's new forums to be much easier to use than any email
list, but I recognize that you listers are a) busy and b) brilliant
when it comes to getting the most from our favorite browser.

So I'm trying to bridge two worlds by linking to an OmniGroup OmniWeb
thread:

http://forums.omnigroup.com/showthread.php?p=8404#post8404

In summary, this thread bemoans the "new" NYtimes site design as
illegible at larger type sizes. My query is whether one could
suppress some but not all of the CSS associated with the site to make
the display friendlier for older eyes.

I'll summarize any private emails back to this list and the forum.

Title bar command-click

Hey, cool! If you command-click in the title bar you get a popup
with all the prefixes of the current URL, so you can go e.g. straight
to the parent of the current page.

How come I never knew that before? Can't find it in the docs, anyway.

Can't load omni fora, omni site

Hi everyone :)

I've been using the fora mostly, but when I tried to load them today,
I can't reach the site. Can't reach anything at omnigroup.com .

I don't know what's causing this.

Same here and it looks like a DNS issue.
