custom form design - without editing source code

Hi, I'm looking for a CMS that allows me to easily setup web based forms -
typically done via php/mysql - I'm hoping a tool like midgard can assist me in
doing this, rather than doing it all in php.

some of the overview info about this product suggest it can help, but I haven't
found anything conclusive yet.

Any tips/suggestions.

Midgard 2.0 roadmap

Hi Guys,

Henri B. and I have finally decided about the MidCOM 2.0 release roadmap.

I will freeze the current MidCOM codebase on Friday, releasing 2.0.0-RC1 at
that time. I will fork off a branch in CVS at that point, which is used to
finish stabilizing the 2.0 strain without hampering development in the main
trunk.

From that point on, only bugfixes are allowed into the 2.0 stream of
MidCOM. Anybody commiting fixes to the main trunk is strongly asked to copy
the commits to the 2.0 tree also. CVS' branch merging feature is a great
help here, allowing you to do this nearly automatic. (This now finally
works since we got rid of Repligard *g*.)

Two exceptions to this rule are in-effect:

1. The component n.n.discussion is broken at the moment, it will be synced
with the state on m-p.org before release.

2. Stuff around the final release package, including midcom-template and a
transitional midcom.xml that will remove the db-code part of MidCOM.

The 2.0.0 release is scheduled for Monday, 2004-12-20, so we'll have a
Marry Christmas release then. :)

Everybody is invited to test the FS-Midcom Release Candidate. I will try to
update it as often as possible for me, so that you are not required to work
with CVS checkouts if you don't want to.

fs-midcom and Aegir vs PHP5

Evening

I've been looking the TheWardens problem tonight, some extracts from log:

---<snip>---
bah, the address is now open: http://scorpius.venmarces.com/
[19:06] Rambo: I nebaled error display and filtered notices out (lot's
of them, just detract from the main error)
[19:06] Rambo: s/nebaled/enabled/
?[19:07] Piotras: ?ok , can You mail this to dev? Torben told that he
can solve this if this is only fs-midcom
[19:07] Piotras: but I know he will tell "This must be PHP5 issue"
?[19:16] Rambo: ?auth core performs fine (at least with Aegir), the
problem with aegir is a parse error in /AegirCore/lib/rcs_functions
[19:16] Rambo: there was a paths issue with midcom as well
[19:19] Rambo: but now there's a different issue as well, it propably is
PHP5 related
[19:20] Rambo: but we need to be PHP5 ready rather soon anyways...
---<snip>---

The issue with fs-midcom is
---<snip>---
Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in
/usr/local/share/php/pear/fs-midcom/lib/midcom/services/i18n.php on line 132
---<snip>---

TheWarden is trying latest version of fs-midcom and will also try php4 ,
which should solve at least the Aegir problem (the parse error seems
pretty nonsensical to me, the line [538] is just indent and curly

MidCOM 2.0.0-RC1 released

Hi Community

it is time to get the Filesystem MidCOM release into the wildlive.

This first release candidate is considered mostly stable (you know, Don't
Panick, in thick friendly letters... *scnr*). See the release announcement:

fresh install issues

Hi,

For the first time since my stone-age I made a vanilla install of 1.6.1
and noticed the following:

1. I have 2 "Empty" styles

One that comes with Aegir and one that comes with Spider. Daniel, would
you fix the GUID for your "Em[ty" style to match?

2. I got 5 empty, unnamed groups under SG0.

one comes with Aegir
one comes with /midgard host
one comes devel.aegir-cms.org/sample (hmm... but how, why that host is
in AegirCMS.xml?)
one comed with MidCOM Example Site
one comes with __Midgard CMS Welcome AIS topic

As for Aegir's bugs it is my fault as I completely separated from the
project and perhaps left some garbage in it. Now as I am trying to fit
myself back I hope to manage to reincarnate it. Anyway I think there is
a need to merge those groups into one GUID since it looks rather funny
to have 5 unnamed groups after a fresh install.

Other thing is that they are Unnamed, however I can blame my Mandrake
addiction if I am the only one that have some groups unnamed after
replication.

Regardless the above, all of the installation process went like a charm

This sounds like the yamp scripts would need some tuning.
Any ideas why clean_group_references.pl and remove_grps.pl
fail or are not used for those packages?

Adam Douglas (TheWarden on IRC) has told me he could provide us with
some boxes in Canada if we only tell him what we need. So far I've
only spoken about a web site mirror, but I guess Aegir development
server would be even more important.

Aegir code base has been lately rotting quite badly, but it would be

As for latest Aegir, all was made using your configuration, so I have no idea...

That's a good news. If my operations fail we'll need to move it there. Today I am going to meet a potential
sponsor with an Ethernet link so I will report later.

hosts and some styles etc.

Well, I think a simple, fast midgard UI for editing styles would be cool.
Aegir has (IMHO) reached the stage where rewriting is required for
further development.

It has reached it long ago...
But I, unfortunately, don't have any free time-resources these days, to
start implementing aegir-2, which was a plan, a year ago..
