Re: Where's the code?

I don't understand why the instructions on the GNU Social page at http://www.gnu.org/software/social/ say to simply install Status.net when the code is clearly not packaged up there.

Also, is it possible that other people besides myself don't have a Git client handy?  Is there a reason this shouldn't be packaged as a zip?

http://gitorious.org/statusnet/gnu-social/commit/6b34a2111d00664f6b4faeb51dc9f1d69e0d19f4

And yes, I think alpha site is already there.

It is probably possible for the admins to enable "Download Mainline as
tarball" or some such that will allow mere mortals to more easily grab
a current snapshot.

GNU social alpha 0.1 "Ritter"

Folks, the day has finally arrived -- GNU social is at alpha level.

Please go to http://www.gnu.org/software/social/ and download and try
out the alpha -- there are bugs, user interface quirks and an obvious
lack of many social networking features, but you can form relationships
and join groups in a decentralized manner, which is a huge huge win.

I hope you enjoy it, and please work with us to get the next release
even better.

Thanks,

matt

For those who are lazy, and don't want to have to click many times, and
turn on javascript in a browser, it appears that the gitorious git URL
is:

  git://gitorious.org/+socialites/statusnet/gnu-social.git

Re: Where's the code?

This link also does not seem to contain the GNU Social code.

I have Status.net installed and running on my own host.  I'd like a package of the GNU Social add-in.

I started to copy the latest change commits, then fussed with Gity for a bit, and that wasn't working, so I'm writing back on my way to finding another GUI Git client.

Re: GNU social alpha 0.1 "Ritter"

Hi,

Is is always going to be necessary to pull the whole package for GNU Social like this?  I'm wondering how we update a status.net around all these files.

Try this one...

http://gitorious.org/statusnet/gnu-social/archive-tarball/master

Me too :)

From the tarball above, I think these are the files you want...

plugins/GNUsocial*
theme/*social
*.SOCIAL
tpl/social.php

Hope that helps,
Tom

You're better off cloning this, and linking it in.

Assuming your server is running GNU/Linux, we can help you set this up.

Games with Distributed/Non-Local Players

Hello,

To learn about StatusNet plug-in development I created a little Tic
Tac Toe game. If anyone is interested in trying it out, I posted the
source code here:
http://www.tomcort.com/src/TicTacToe/TicTacToe-0.3.tar.bz2

It was pretty straightforward to develop a single player game.
Enhancing it to support two human players appears like it will be a
bit of a challenge, especially supporting players with accounts on
different servers. Are there any designs / ideas for how this will be
done in GNU Social? OAuth?
