Default character set

We are currently switching away from apache and are testing Cherokee webserver.
So far everything seems to go ok.

Now we are working out some .htaccess differences.

We are trying to set the default webserver output character set . This to make sure we don't get any character mismatches.
With apache we could use
------------------------
AddDefaultCharset utf-8
------------------------

Where can I set this with cherokee?
I couldn't find it anywhere in the options

Committed new uWSGI wizard

Hi all, i have just committed the new uWSGI wizard.

I have added all the features posted in the previous RFC except
the manage-script-name (as it sounds a bit over-engeneering for a wizard)

Exotic XML configurations like this :

http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/browser/multi.xml

are supported (the wizard will create a mountpoint for each <app> tag)

YAML configuration is supported only if PyYAML is available.

If a socket is specified in the configuration file it will be used instead of auto-generated ones.

If no config file is specified (and only a .wsgi,.py,.psgi,.pl,.lua,.ws,.ru,.rb is set) the default
command line
will be set for optimal values based on the system/cherokee configuration (mainly the number of
processes, the socket timeout
and the listen queue)

If you specify a logging system in the wizard it will be used as uWSGI logging store (if you have not set it in
the uWSGI configuration)

All kinds of reports will be very wellcomed

Thanks

Problems with redirection rules for get CakePHP

I'm trying to get CakePHP 1.3 working under Cherokee, following the method
described at: http://dbanck.de/2009/06/16/cakephp-and-cherokee/

Everything works fine except getting the root dir (I get a 403 error).

I've set up the two redirection rules as described on the site above, like
this:

Internal – ^.*$ – index.php
Internal – ^/$ – /index.php

... but the error remains.

I'm using Cherokee 1.0.8.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

I'm glad to hear that.

There is not such option, actually.
Cherokee tries to use UTF-8 everywhere to avoid internationalization issue.

Besides de charset property of the Content-Type header.. Would it be used somewhere else?

I'm blind guessing here.. try this:

  Internal - ^/.*$ - /index.php
  Internal - ^/$ - /index.php

Or try switching the handler from Static Content to List&Send to make
use of directory indexes by default.

Good luck!

Distributed reverse proxy

Hi friends,

I work for a free software project (www.elastix.org) and at the moment
we have around 6500 per day. We use joomla and Kunena as our software
for forums. This takes a lot cpu resources. I don't think we can move
from Apache to Cherokee right now, as I would like (not my decition).
But I believe that contributors and users of the project could run a
reverse proxy to distribute the load.

For example my idea would be something like this:

www.elastix.org could be in Miami
www2.elastix.org could be in Spain
www3.elastix.org could be in Australia
...
....
...

Logic saids to me this could work. Everyone mirror could be running a
cherokee reverse proxy pointing to the main server. I don't know how
joomla would work with distributed reverse proxy, as all the links
would point to the main domain.

Wo the question is. Is this possible? Do you know of someone that has
done this before?

Best regards,

Rafael

Upgrade problem to 1.0.11

Upgraded most of my servers with no issue to 1.0.11 but on one of them, it's saying:

Couldn't read the config file: /etc/cherokee/cherokee.conf

Did a diff between the backup and the current and only the version number is different...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis
