I can't get to cherokee-admin page.

I downloaded the windows build.
..., executed the installer.
..., run cherokee from the start menu.
..., launched http://localhost, and saw the start page (the red one ;)
..., went into 'c:/Program Files/Cherokee/' with the command prompt and typed
'cherokee-admin'
nothing happened.

I also tried 'cherokee.exe cherokee-admin' nothing there still...

How do you do this ?

That is because the Windows built that you are is too old. Cherokee
0.6.0 was the first version that included the administration interface.

We will release a new set of Windows packages with the upcoming
Cherokee 0.8.0 release (hopefully within the next few weeks).

Cheers!

Cherokee 0.8.0 quick update

Hi there guys,

This is just a short mail to let you know that Cherokee 0.8.0 is
almost ready. It is already stable on Unix platforms, and we are
currently working on finishing a few fixes for the native Windows
version. Hopefully we will finish it soon (working on Windows isn't
that pleasant, actually).

Stay tuned.

Cherokee on Mac OS X. Can't read cherokee.access||cherokee.conf? And: server.c:1049: Number of system fds too low: 0 < 20

Hi All,

I'm trying to get Cherokee running on OS X 10.5. I am
able to make and install it. but I get some errors when I try a couple
different things..

>cherokee-admin
>server.c:1049: Number of system fds too low: 0 < 20

As well as:
>cherokee start
>couldn't open '/var/log/cherokee.error' for appending
>couldn't read the config file: /etc/cherokee/cherokee.conf

I've made sure to chmod those two files, but I'm not sure what the
cherokee-admin error is.

Also, there is so much output from the make / make install. Would
there be anything in all that output that is an indicator to some kind
of error on install? I was assuming it was ok because the install
didn't stop with errors.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you,
Aaron

Oh, I am also seeing this when I run guardian?

$cherokee-guardian --help

Anything we can do to figure this out would be great as I'd like to
setup a macport once I get this all figured out. There are quite a few
binary distributions but no easy way for mac users yet..

Thanks again.

Introduction

Hello Cherokee people!

The upcomming 0.8.0 version gives me even more reason to step in:

Let me say, I am a big fan of this wonderfull webserver!

Because I am not a C/C++ programmer but I do want to spend time on
cherokee,

I decided to help with the documentation and the project website.

First I dropped Alvero a email and he hooked me up with Taher. Taher
introduced me to the way you people work regarding the documentation and
all and I am trying to fit myself in.

Little steps we are taking:

Walk through the website and fixing typo's and broken links.

For this I report things I find as issues to the cherokee project at
code.google.com. Taher the fixes them.

Introduce some enhancements to the list

Well, here I am! I discussed some things with Taher and would like to
post some to get feedback from the community:

Google Analytics in the website footer. This way the community can
track visits, get an overview on the number of downloads and get some

We used to hang out on Freenode #cherokee, although I do not think it
is really crowded these days. I'd say that the best choice right now
is the mailing list.

I'm afraid it has not been implemented so far, although it's something
that has been under the radar for quite some time now.

I have logged a RFE at http://bugs.cherokee-project.com/ to don't
forget about it for upcoming releases.

Cheers!

Sorry, that's where you lost me. I block all Google cookies because I
hope to be paid for research that indicates where my attention was
gained or lost, I am not 'cattle'.

I also prefer to not have my surfing habits tracked by a company who has
(due to haphazard cavalier lawyering) been forced to hand over its
access logs to one of the most popular destinations on the Internet. See
Viacom vs Google.

What I do and research on-line is my business, not Google's. I'll surely
use the site, however, my visits will not be logged in said statistics.

Please consider some other method of analyzing statistics.

Regards,

I cannot see the point, actually. Let's imagine we had the data today;
What would we do with it? How would it become useful for the project?

IMO, it'd be good to know -for instance- the total number of
downloads, although as long as there are many organizations (mirrors,
Debian, etc) distributing the sources, there is no way to know it. It
would be also good to know how we do with the global deployment, but
we already got Netcraft (*1) for that.

So, unless someone comes up with a good reason for putting it in
place, I wouldn't add it.

1.- By the way. Do you guys know of some Netcraft competitor? I mean,
some other company/org. collecting the same sort of data.
