Fantastic news!

Can we open remote files directly?

I've just tried using, for example,
ftp://user:pwd@.../htdocs/index.html, in the open file
dialog box and it doesn't seem to work. Is there another method?

No I don't think so. I don't know if GVFS can be ported to a native
package, and bluefish relies on GVFS for remote files...

b.t.w. does the native mac package work correctly on your machine? Do the
plugins load for example? (html bar, snippets plugin?) are the icons in
the filebrowser available? Can you open project files? Does mime type
detection work (is a html document syntax highlighted as html?)

I have only 1 mac, and it has a system wide gtk install so I cannot test
on a 'clean' system..

It seems as though they do

> Do the plugins load for example? (html bar, snippets plugin?)

Yes, they are all working when they are attached to the window.

If you drag them so that they are floating, they are buggy. They do not display any content, they simply
appear as a blank white rectangle. They still respond to mouse-clicks, so it is possible to drag the white
rectangle back into place. It is even possible to use them if you can remember where to click!

If you don't know what's happened you can't recover your working space. You have to quit Bluefish and fire it
up again to restore the plug-in menus.

Yes.

I can create new projects and save, close and open them. I didn't have any earlier project files to test.

Yes, syntax highlighting works for .pl, .html, .php and .css

I've just tested on OS 10.6.3 that doesn't have developer tools, macPorts or Fink installed. Everything
looks OK there.

One thing I have noticed is that the filebrowser initially opens up in the belly of the fish! That is, in the
same location as the launcher script, /Applications/Bluefish.app/Contents/MacOS/. This is not a good
place to put things. Mac users cannot browse into that guts of their applications in Finder, so they will
have trouble locating their files unless they do all their file browsing in Bluefish.

Another is that the templates are missing.

Also, having just created a template. When creating a new file from a template - and there is more than one
document open - the new document is created at the end of the list but it is not brought to the front.

sftp:// is a ftp-like-over-ssh

use nautilus to connect to a server over sftp, and then open the file
using bluefish. That way you automatically see the correct URL.

Adding File Types Bluefish 2.0.0-5

Dear All,

Has anyone figured out how to add file types in Bluefish 2.0.0-5.

I would like my bluefish to identify files with *.xxx extensions as PHP files.

In Bluefish 1.* it was a simple addition in the Edit->Preferences>File Type menu.  The new 2.0.* does not have this item in the menu, despite the manual saying it is there.  Also the new 2.0.* no longer uses the rcfile_v2 which would allow direct editing of this.

Help!!! Im almost tearing my hair out.
