Some Japanese specific guide pages

Hello list,

Though I don't know there is any other Japanese in this list,
I wrote some pages about bluefish.

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014481/bluefish/

Bluefish out of the box has some problems when it used in Japanese environment.
Maybe they don't appear in English or European locales, LC_ALL=C or
LC_ALL=iso-8859-1.
So I felt Japanese specific guide is necessary and here you are.

Now this guide contains 3 items.
1. How to use Shift-JIS encoding
2. Japanese message catalog (ja.po), mainly for old stable versions.
3. Use Japanese in Outputbox

Please take a look if you are interested in.
And of course feedback is welcome.

Hope this helps someone,

That's great, I'll include a link a wiki and manual. Thanks so much.

But what is interesting and would be worth to write to the developers
mailing list, since apparently you make a patch for Japanese (at
least from what I understand translating your pages via google). It

Could you please translate the relevant parts for us? Any changes you
made, may be from public interest, so we should probably merge them into
upstream as well.

> And of course feedback is welcome.

I see, that you've added a japanese translation for the Sarge package
(from what I understand from your page). Is that right? Shall I try to
include that translation officially in the Sarge update I prepared? If
yes, please check your translation and send me the file directly.

ja.po for old stable releases for bluefish

Hi Daniel,
thanks for your interest.

Your reply included two topic, please let me process them one by one.
At first, about Debian sarge.

Which version (1.0.x) are you preparing for update for sarge?
I read that now sarge uses just 1.0 , without .x, seeing
http://packages.debian.org/stable/web/bluefish

Do you use newer version or stay on 1.0?
Do you change some messages from official archive?

For official stable releases I have prepared ja.po for each stable versions.
They are:
1.0 : http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014481/bluefish/po/ja.po-1.0
1.0.1 : in upstream archive.(*)
1.0.2 : http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014481/bluefish/po/ja.po-1.0.2
1.0.3 : in upstream archive(**).
1.0.4 : in upstream archive.
1.0.5 : in upstream archive.

(*) for 1.0.1, ja.po is included but included configure doesn't process ja.po.
(**)for 1.0.3 I'm not confident. I don't check it because 1.0.4 is released soon after.

After you decided the version, I can send the ja.po for the version or
you can pick it up by yourself from the place described above.

If you change some messages, I will follow them in ja.po.

I must stay at 1.0. That's a restriction by Debian policy.

> Do you change some messages from official archive?

No. This is (normally) not allowed. The prepared update will close the
bugs mentioned in the BTS regarding Sarge. There is no guarantee, that
the release team will accept the update. Therefor, I also provide
backports at backports.org. Because of their policy, my sponsor must
upload the packages there and he seems busy. So the final conclusion:

official Sarge: will stay at 1.0 - just bug-fixes and probably the
translation addition will be possible

backports.org plan: backports of the latest stable version for Sarge
users

Re: ja.po for old stable releases for bluefish

I'll check ja.po for 1.0 in two or three days, and send it to you.
Is it too late?

2. is going its way in another thread,
3. is filed in bug report #340736
    http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340736

so 1. is remaining.

Shift-JIS is one of character encoding to be used for Japanese.
Unluckily, sometimes document in this code is misunderstood as in
iso-8859-1 by bluefish.

If you set default encoding to Shift_JIS, you can prevent bluefish
from this misunderstanding.

sourceforge.net CVS changes, check our repository

Hello all,

Maybe not all developers mentioned the latest changes, sourceforge.net
introduced with their new CVS solution. As you maybe noticed, anon and
developers CVS had several problems in the last weeks. Yesterday, the
sf.net team finished their work on the new CVS infrastructure and made
the following announcement:

https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=567061

Before you now checkout the repository, be sure to make a backup copy of
your latest checked-out version before you do a new checkout. It is
possible, that errors crept into our CVS repository during movement of
the CVS services (one of my project CVS repositories e.g. completely
lost Attic directories). So check the repository first (I will also do
in the next days) and report issues here or in the sf.net support forum
(in the latter case, leave a pointer here).

CC to users list for new instructions to checkout via anonymous CVS.

Regards, Daniel
