seeeing only logs from a certain number of users

Dear Reader,

Somehow we can only see the weekly logging from 20 logs(ip entry's) and up.
Because we use an MS loadbalancing, certain logs are not in our logging list. For example.

Server a
page 1 - 9 views

Server b
page 1 - 12 views

Its a total of 21 views, but because the analog only shows from 20 logs and up it doesnt show at all.
(server a and b do have their own analog.exe and own IIS logfiles)

Is there a posiblility to adjust the amount which it would log from, maybe setting it up to 1 instead of 20 .

With kind regards,

Daan Nutbeij

Creating Custom Reports

xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" xmlns:st1="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

Is there a way to write/create custom reports for Analog, in order to process data?

For example, if I wanted a report that grouped by user, and for each user, which files were downloaded.

I have read the docs/faq.html#faq128, that tells how you could run the report for each user, but this is not a feasible solution for me.  Because of this, I’m wondering if anyone has attempted to create custom report themselves.  If so, do you have recommendations as to whether I should create the report in Analog, or export the data to .csv file and make a report in excel?

Thanks.

Reporting just referral activity

I have referrer info in the logfile and I want to only report subset for pages that got hit as a result of a Google referral.

That will give me a list of the most active pages as far as pages indexed in Google resulting in traffic.

How do I do that with analog 6.0?

Craig

I need to included a summary attributed to all html table tags?
Is there a template that I can modify so that the summary attribute is

Reporting on elements in the request line

Hi

I've got log files from a Google Search appliance.  The data is located in the "request" value.

192.0.0.0 - - [05/Nov/2009:14:50:49 -0500] "GET /search?coutput=json&q=red+hat&btnG=Google+Search&access=p&client=default_frontend&sort=date%3AD%3AL%3Ad1&entqr=3&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&ud=1&site=default_collection&ip=192.0.0.0&num=100&filter=0&output=xml HTTP/1.1" 200 77014 438 0.12

I'd like to be able to report off of the values such as "&client" and "&site" and "&q".

Is there anyway to do that?

For example, I'd love to be able to have a report that would show how many requests had "&site=default_collection" and then see the breakdown for any other values for &site=.

Thanks
Terry

Order of processing steps...

Thanks for all the help so far.
Where can I find Analog's order of process.
I'm trying to understand this in order to process URL
parameters/querystring as I would like.

As far as I can tell it must go like this:

1. Read line from Log file
example: http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6

2. Process FILEALIAS directives
example:
FILEALIAS /*?*72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6 /*
Translates this:
http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6
to this: http://www.mydomain.com/72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6

3. Process FILEINCLUDE directives
example:
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6

Is that correct?

I plan on creating a configuration file that will list all the
objectID that I want to include in the report.
Maybe something like this will work:
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E6
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E7
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E8
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08E9
FILEINCLUDE http://www.mydomain.com/?objectid=72015D13-BDB7-CEBA-FCC75AAEAA3A08F0

If this posting does not make any sense, them I have got it all screwed up.
If so, then flame me with constructive criticism.

a little bit OT - doing backups

Sorry if this is not 100% analog centric. But I guess anyone in this list
is familar with the issue:

I recently resurrected a site which did not do any backups or at least
the backup
strategy was not very sophisticated.

Now the system admin decided to do a nightly backup to a 40 GB tape or
something. A full backup.
It takes 4 hours and he stopped tomcat, apache and mysql for that.

For 4 hours the site is now off net (!).

Incredible.

I'm trying to advise him to do either the backup without caring about
locked files/open files.
We have scheduled this for the coming nihjtly backup and want to watch
the outcome.

Is analog picky in any way about the log files?

The dnsquery processes also take quite a while. But I believe, apache
doesn't have
to be stopped for this.

(I'm talking about Windows XP, btw). Thanks for your attention.
