[jitsi-users] Introduction and bugs question

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA512

Hullo Jitsi developers,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gus; I am the head of the
Secure User Practices project at the Open Internet Tools Project. My job
is to help the open source security tools community improve their tools'
usability. Think of me as sort of a floating community manager/usability
researcher working to help a number of projects :) I've been poking my
head into #jitsi as gusgus.

I have a handful of bugs to report for Mac/Linux connections on Jitsi.
For all of them I have pretty good documentation of the steps it would
take to re-create the problem.

I see from your site it says you prefer bugs to be sent to the mailing
list first. Can you tell me: Should I submit them in separate emails, or
one big email? A number of them are related -- they were sort of a
cascade of problems that result from adding a contact.

Looking forward to working with you on these -- in one case they kept me
from establishing a connection to someone I was calling using SIP.

Thanks!
Gus

[jitsi-users] Bug: Jitsi is losing presence status of XCAP contacts after a while.

Hello!

I would like to report a bug in jitsi i have found recently.

When using XCAP server as main contacts storage for sip account after some time all contacts statuses added by XCAP are turning gray and jitsi says they all are offline however they are not. To bring back proper contacts status user needs to restart jitsi.

How to reproduce:
1. Configure jitsi to use XCAP
2. Wait some time ( usually happens after 2h or more)

[jitsi-users] Windows - Jitsi nightly updates

Hey,

I have Jitsi build 2.5.5072 installed on Windows, and I'd like to
update it to a more recent nightly version. Going to the main menu
"Help => Check for updates" tells me that jitsi is up to date. But
according to the nightly repository the latest version at the time of
this writing is 2.5.5232. Can someone please tell me how to set Jitsi
to use the nightly updates channel on Windows?

Thanks

[jitsi-users] Jitsi : Playback of video

Hello,
I am using libjitsi to create a application as part of my assignment to send and receive media.I am not able to understand how can i playback the received video stream.I have tried the sample codes of AVTransmit and AVReceive and only audio is played back!
I have been trying to deciper this for a week or so.Can you please give me a hint in proper direction.
A previous thread says Jisti can serve as a definitive guide to do so.Isn't there a simple example explaining how to do so in short rather than going through the Jitsi Source code
Thanks a lot

[jitsi-users] Remembering Group Expand/Collapse Settings

I find that the first thing I do every time I start Jitsi is to collapse
the "Recent conversations" list.

It would be a Good Thing if Jitsi could remember the user's choice to
expand or collapse the "Recent conversations" list, as well as contact
group lists, between sessions.

[jitsi-users] Audio/video call dropdown menu doesn't show XMPP resource

Hi,

In Jitsi desktop version, in the case of Jabber/XMPP accounts (specifically Google Talk), if a contact is signed in through multiple clients, each client has a unique resource ID. (For Jitsi, jitsi-xxxxx and for Hangouts, Messaging-xxxxxx)

When clicked, the audio/video call button will show a dropdown menu with the list of different XMPP addresses, but only the main address is shown (user <at> servername - e.g sandy.8925-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org) - the resource portion (jitsi-xxxx,Messaging-xxxx) is not shown. (see attached picture)

So, when attempting to start an audio/video call through Jitsi, it is difficult to identify which endpoint/client needs to be selected since the resource is not shown - instead a list of multiple copies of the same email address is shown (although status may help here).

I request that changes be made to also display XMPP resource in the drop down menu.

- Sandeep
