[streaming] failed compiling vlcs in freeBSD 5.0 with gcc3.2.1

Hi,
My freeBSD PC failed to compile vlcs miniVLCS-0.2.0b.
The error msg is:

===============
penguin# make
c++ -O3 -g -I. -Wall -c -o vlcs.o vlcs.c
In file included from vlcs.c:49:
config.h:53: syntax error before `.' token
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/zipfiles/videolan-files/miniVLCS-0.2.0b.
penguin-r6#

Is there any incompatibility issue with gcc3.2.1??
Thanks.

Question about VideoLAN and Mac OS9.x

Friends at VideoLAN,

Greetings for the new year. I wonder if you could please tell me if
there is a version of VideoLAN that will work on Mac OS9.x. When
last I checked, there was; now it appears that VideoLAN only works
with OSX.

With many thanks in advance for your kind help,

Priya Joshi

Questions about setting up a video server

Hi,

My application consists of 4 video cameras (usb) the images of which (one of
them, selected by the user) should be displayed on the client connected via
the internet.

I have no experience in this, although I can work with linux and windows, and
program a bit. My idea is to setup a linux (or windows) web server with a
broadband connection (256 or 512 upload speed), and this will be serving the
clients that will connect to it.

One of the aspects I would like to consider is what size of images, and how
many frames per second, should I be sending to the clients. As above, each
client will be watching only one source in normal size, or perhaps, all
sources in a 1/4 screen size for each.

I would appreciate receiving any information/suggestion or links to where I
can read more about it, and perhaps get a starting point. For a start I have
the following:
1. windows machine with windows 2000 server
1. linux mandrake server
1. usb logitech web camera

Thanks very much for any help,

Eli Napchan

enddevice

Hello !

Your project is very interesting for me, because I am looking for a end device between PC via ethernet to my tv set.
I know, EXSTREAMER (http://www.barix.com/exstreamer/) is a good accreption, but is it to complex to develope a device for more than Audiofiles ? Divx or mpeg for example ??

Do you know my problem and have you got a solution for it ?
It´s a general problem in the communication of pc and tv via ethernet, isn´t it?

best regards,

Some question

Good morning and many many regards for your work with VLS & VLC.

I'd like to install the entire system on the LAN of my office, and i've
a linux box dedicated to the server.
Ok for VLC, but someone ask me if is possible to "read" the stream from
the server in Windows Media Player too? Someone of my collegue don't
want to install nothing on the windows PC.

For example, is possible to store the videos on the same PC then the VLS
and the client see a web page with the address of the video and the
video is open by Windows Media Player?

Annother thing: how can i trasmit MPG4?

10xxxxxxx

Why always in english

WLAN?

Hello,

Did you try your software across Wireless LAN (802.11b)? Do you expect it
would work?

Thank you,
Alexander

prpblem with multicast

Hi,
I am trying to stream some multicast channels with vls and vlcs.
I am using the following configuration: vls vlc are installed on windows
2000 pro and vlcs is installed on redhat linux 8.0.
I am streaming mpeg-1 files from the video server on the multicast channels.
I was able to stream one program (mpeg-1 file) on the multicast channel, the
video LAN client has connected to the vlcs on channel 1, but I have tried
to stream another multicast stream on channel 2 but the video client did
not receive the stream. The video server has started to run the second
multicast stream channel but it seems that the client did not recognize the
second stream. On the vlc when I have changed the channel number from 1 to 2
on the vlcs has received the change request but the video LAN client did
not receive the stream. I have attached the configuration files of the vls,
maybe I am doing something wrong.

Appreciate your help

Best regards
